Over $1.2 Billion in Total Value: Triastek Announces First-Ever Technology Platform International Collaboration in Chinese Pharmaceutical History with BioNTech | Yunqi Capital
Empowering Digital Transformation in Pharmaceutical Development

➤➤➤ Recently, Triastek, a Yunqi Capital-led Series A+ portfolio company and 3D pharmaceutical printing firm, announced a research collaboration and platform technology licensing agreement with BioNTech SE (hereinafter "BioNTech"), a top-tier biopharmaceutical company. Under the agreement, the two parties will develop oral RNA medicines based on 3D printing drug technology. This collaboration aims to deliver a breakthrough therapy that addresses unmet clinical needs through a convenient oral dosage form.
Per the terms of the agreement, Triastek will receive a $10 million upfront payment, with the potential to earn total milestone payments exceeding $1.2 billion for product development, regulatory approval, and commercialization, as well as future potential tiered sales royalties. This not only sets a new record for deal value in the drug delivery field, but also marks the first international collaboration for a Chinese drug formulation technology platform in the history of China's pharmaceutical industry.
Founded in 2015, Triastek pioneered the world's first Melt Extrusion Deposition (MED®) pharmaceutical 3D printing process. This process represents a new generation of solid dosage form manufacturing technology, combining digital formulation development methods to enable complex drug delivery and programmed release, providing a rich toolkit of product design options to meet diverse clinical needs. Prior to this, Triastek had already established partnerships with multiple multinational corporations and domestic pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck, Siemens, and Sperogenix.

In this collaboration, Triastek will fully leverage its expertise in 3D printing drug technology to design innovative oral formulations, aiming to optimize the delivery of RNA drugs across the gastrointestinal mucosa, reduce degradation of RNA drugs in the GI tract, and deliver RNA drugs to potentially optimal absorption sites in the gastrointestinal tract.
Advanced intelligent manufacturing is one of Yunqi Capital's long-term focus areas. Digital and intelligent drug development and production are critical components of digital intelligent manufacturing, as well as a key pathway to modernization in the pharmaceutical industry. As China's first 3D printing drug technology platform company, Triastek's collaboration with BioNTech also marks a major breakthrough for China's formulation technology sector. We look forward to Triastek continuing to drive the digital transformation of pharmaceutical development and production through foundational technological innovation.
