Pioneering a New Era of Intelligent Drug Discovery

Recently, Triastek (full name: "Nanjing Triastek Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd."), a company Yunqi Capital led in its Series A+ round, announced that it has raised RMB 150 million in a Pre-C round. The funds will primarily accelerate clinical studies of its 3D-printed drug pipeline and the commercialization of its 3D printing pharmaceutical technology.

Yunqi Capital has long focused on "technology-enabled industrial upgrading," with advanced intelligent manufacturing as one of its key areas of sustained interest. The digitalization and intelligentization of drug development and production constitute a critical component of digital intelligent manufacturing and represent a key pathway toward modernization in the pharmaceutical industry. As China's first platform company for 3D-printed drug technology, Triastek's underlying manufacturing technology enables digital transformation in pharmaceutical development and production, with the goal of becoming a world-leading technology-driven pharmaceutical company through foundational technological innovation.

Triastek globally pioneered the Melt Extrusion Deposition (MED®) 3D printing process for pharmaceuticals, combining it with digital formulation development methods to achieve complex drug delivery and programmed release. Beyond MED, Triastek continues to develop new processes, including semi-solid extrusion, micro-injection molding, and micro-droplet jetting technologies. Used in combination with MED, these technologies can provide more diversified solutions for delivery and development needs such as oral peptide products, gastric retention products, and highly potent/toxic products.

As a technology provider of digital pharmaceutical processes, Triastek is exploring the rich application scenarios of 3D drug printing technology. The company engages in broad commercial partnerships with global pharmaceutical firms, spanning both product-level collaborations and technology solution partnerships. To date, it has established partnerships with multiple multinational corporations and domestic pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck, Siemens, and Sperogenix.

After eight years of technological innovation and industrial application, Triastek has achieved four "firsts" in the global field of 3D-printed pharmaceuticals: first, the largest patent portfolio, accounting for over 20% of all applications in the entire field; second, the most products, with 3 of its products obtaining four IND approvals from both China and the US among the four 3D-printed drug products globally that have entered or completed regulatory filings; third, the highest production capacity for 3D-printed drug manufacturing lines, having built a GMP-compliant 3D-printed drug production center with its first continuous production line capable of 75 million tablets annually; and fourth, the only Chinese pharmaceutical company selected for the US FDA's Emerging Technology Program (ETP).
