Yunqi AGI × WAIC2023 | Three New Opportunities for Large Model Deployment ## 01 In 2023, large language models have become the hottest topic in tech and investment circles. At this year's World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), discussions about large models were everywhere. From B2B to B2C, from infrastructure to applications, from text to multimodal — the entire ecosystem is being reshaped. But beneath the excitement, a critical question looms: where exactly are the real opportunities for large model deployment? At the WAIC Yunqi Capital AGI Forum, we invited entrepreneurs and investors at the forefront of large model development to share their perspectives. Through in-depth conversations, we identified three emerging opportunities that deserve attention. ## 02 Opportunity One: Vertical Industry Models The consensus among panelists was clear: general-purpose large models are important, but vertical industry models represent the more immediate commercial opportunity. Why? Because general models, while capable of many tasks, often lack the depth required for professional scenarios. In fields like healthcare, finance, and legal services, domain expertise — specialized knowledge, compliance requirements, workflow integration — creates significant barriers to entry. As one entrepreneur noted: "A general model might score 60 points on a

And, Yunqi Capital's AGI+ portfolio has added these new products —

Recently, the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2023 wrapped up in Shanghai. In the large models, robotics, and AGI+ application exhibition zones, several Yunqi Capital portfolio companies debuted new AGI+ products. Meanwhile, Yunqi Capital partner Chen Yu was invited to speak at the investment and financing forum titled "Vitality in Creation, Achievement for the Future," joining discussions on how AI companies and capital markets can better collaborate.

Yunqi Capital has long tracked AI technology development and industrial evolution. At the infrastructure layer, we led the angel round of multimodal large model company MiniMax in late 2021; at the middleware layer, we invested in the "standard vector database for large models," Zilliz's angel round; at the application layer, we have actively deployed in autonomous driving, robotics, enterprise services, and other sectors.

Chen Yu noted that large models are extremely resource-intensive, consuming massive human and compute resources. Companies with sufficient "ammunition" reserves have already formed a first tier, making it increasingly difficult for other startups to break through. Investors' attention has now shifted to other areas:

First, Enterprise Services 2.0. In the AGI era, all enterprise services are worth rebuilding from scratch — large model capabilities can make existing products significantly more intelligent;

Second, the middleware layer for large models. Startups have opportunities in combining general-purpose large model capabilities with enterprises' specific characteristics and industry expertise to enable smooth deployment; additionally, new opportunities are emerging in AI cybersecurity and data security;

Third, new vehicles connecting the digital and physical worlds — autonomous driving and general-purpose robotics. With powerful general artificial intelligence "brains," robots can learn as quickly as humans, and a single physical robot actuator can perform multiple different functions. Tesla and many domestic autonomous driving companies are moving in this direction.

In the rapidly evolving AI wave, young entrepreneurs who learn quickly, demonstrate resilience, and harbor ambition are best positioned to adapt to this era. Entrepreneurs also need strong fundraising abilities — they must clearly articulate what they want to build and their vision to increase their odds of success.

At the WAIC venue, multiple Yunqi Capital portfolio companies also brought new products and fresh thinking to the exhibition zones and forums. Scroll down to see their highlights
