"Shanmagnet Technology" Closes Nearly 100 Million Yuan Round to Advance High-Temperature Superconducting Materials | Yunxun
Supplying Critical Raw Materials for the Future Energy Industry | Yunqi Capital

➤➤➤ Recently, Shenci Technology, a Yunqi Capital angel-round portfolio company and leader in high-temperature superconducting materials, closed a new funding round of nearly RMB 100 million. The proceeds will be used primarily for production line construction, R&D iteration, and daily operations.
Shenci Technology is dedicated to advancing high-temperature superconducting materials and providing superior products and services to global customers. Previously, the company received investments from Yunqi Capital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Endowment Fund (Hanyuan Capital), and other institutions, bringing its total funding to over RMB 100 million. The company collaborates with Shanghai Jiao Tong University technical teams on key challenges including domestic production of critical raw materials and core equipment, ultra-high-speed coating technology, and advanced inspection technology.
Investor Perspectives
Yunqi Capital has long focused on "technology-enabled industrial upgrading," with "frontier technology" being one of its sustained areas of interest. It made early investments in companies including Renssola, Qinghe Jingyuan, and others.
Founding Partner Chengyu Mao commented: High-temperature superconducting materials are key to achieving humanity's ultimate energy dreams. The accelerating commercialization of downstream fusion applications will drive large-scale deployment and cost reduction of high-temperature superconducting materials, continuously increasing penetration in existing use cases while opening new application spaces.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University has consistently stood at the forefront of basic research and industrialization of high-temperature superconducting materials domestically. Professor Yue Zhao and his team have extensive accumulated experience in both technology R&D and industrialization. Yunqi Capital maintains long-term engagement and collaboration with research teams in frontier technology fields, helping scientists achieve technology development and industrial implementation.
Shenci Technology is a university spin-off from Shanghai Jiao Tong University technology transfer, founded in 2022 in Minhang District, Shanghai (core area of the Greater Zero Bay). The company possesses globally leading R&D teams, production equipment, and manufacturing technology for high-temperature superconducting tapes. It is a startup providing critical foundational raw materials for next-generation industries including superconducting power equipment, superconducting maglev trains, compact controlled nuclear fusion, advanced medical equipment, and large scientific installations.

The company's founding team has dedicated nearly 20 years to R&D and application research of high-temperature superconducting tapes. They have led over 20 national and provincial-level superconducting material research projects, with cumulative R&D funding exceeding RMB 50 million, published over 300 academic papers, been granted over 70 domestic and international patents, and led the formulation and revision of 2 national standards. Their research findings have been covered by CCTV-2's China Business Report "Reaching the Peak of Technology" segment, CCTV News Channel's News Live, Dragon TV, and Xinmin Evening News, among other media outlets.
Currently, the company counts among its ranks experts, scholars, and senior engineers from top domestic and international institutions including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Technical University of Denmark, and Tohoku University (Japan). It has also attracted executives from well-known foreign companies to optimize internal operations management and build an efficient R&D management system.
Superconducting materials possess zero electrical resistance and complete diamagnetism, holding important applications across energy transmission and storage, transportation, biomedicine, scientific research, and numerous other fields. Particularly in the energy sector, superconductors are to energy what semiconductors are to information. The information revolution of the past 60 years relied on breakthroughs in semiconductor materials; the energy revolution of the next 60 years will rely on breakthroughs in superconducting materials. As the dual-carbon strategy continues to deepen, the superconducting industry will embrace even broader development space and larger market demand.
