What Are We Actually Reviewing When We Talk About "Reviewing"? | Yunjian · Zhengyuan
After the "Cloud Sight" Series Concludes

As 2022 draws to a close, have you hit your goals? This year, we've walked alongside founders, creating plenty of memorable moments together. On this final working day of the year, the Yunqi team wants to talk about "review and reflection" — what it means and how to do it right.
Review and reflection (复盘) originally referred to replaying a Go match after it ended to examine what went right and wrong. Today, embedding this practice as a core methodology in management systems has become standard at leading companies. Only by looking back can you move forward — businesses need rapid, efficient retrospectives on strategy to spot and correct issues in time, positioning themselves better for what's ahead.
In recent years, "review and reflection" gets talked about everywhere. But what exactly should we be reviewing? How do we do it? And what comes after?
To answer these questions, following our "Eight Questions" and "Yunfan Going Global" series, we organized the capstone course of our "Yunjian" series at the close of 2022 — "Yunjian · Zhengyuan: Identifying Your Company's 'Real' Problems." We invited a renowned hands-on expert in review methodology to deliver a systematic lecture on review concepts and frameworks to nearly a hundred participants from close to 40 Yunqi portfolio companies, complete with guided practical exercises. This Q4 learning package on "review methodology" gave our portfolio companies the tools to use the approach effectively, clarify their core issues, and map out strategy and growth for the new year.

Participants joined through a hybrid online-offline format and left with full hands.
Overall course rating: 4.81/5 ⭐
Instructor delivery and communication: 4.81/5 ⭐

Launching this review course at year-end was perfectly timed.
Packed with substance, and genuinely engaging too!

The content was thorough, practical — I'm taking this straight back to my team.
After the "Yunjian" series wrapped, the Yunqi post-investment team also applied the review methodology to reflect on a year of portfolio support:

2022 was full of changes, so much happened Yeah, felt like getting an instant dopamine hit and long-term endorphins

The "Yunjian" Course Series
Systematic support for companies
Beyond "Yunjian · Zhengyuan," Yunqi Capital this year rapidly anticipated and promptly organized a full curriculum series in response to unfolding developments**, covering ToB entrepreneurship, operations, going-global strategy, and more — linking resources across dimensions to deliver systematic services for portfolio companies.**
Starting from the March COVID outbreak, Yunqi became the first market-based institution to systematically roll out a four-week "Anti-COVID 2.0" series for our portfolio family — "Yunjian · Eight Questions", structured around four modules: "Capital Management," "Organizational Operations," "Agile Work," and "Going Global." We tackled eight questions every tech ToB founder should be thinking about, exploring strategic paths under the new economic reality to address both near-term and longer-term challenges. We also co-created a handbook of collected wisdom with founders and industry experts.

Following "Yunjian · Eight Questions," we launched our going-global track "Yunfan · Going Global," organizing three open online sessions on tech ToB internationalization plus one closed-door exchange. Through practical learning, trend report analysis, and idea exchange, we covered topics like "Building overseas teams from 0 to 1," "Global hiring + remote work management guides," and "Founder war stories" — helping companies realistically understand the challenges of going global and sharpening founders' strategic judgment.
Amid complexity and uncertainty, Yunqi Capital hopes the "Yunjian" series helps our family companies cultivate the resilience to swim against the current and rise to challenges.

Senping Cheng — Founder & CEO, Triastek
Spring 2022 collided with COVID, layered on top of a sluggish global economy and volatile international landscape — making the entrepreneurial path especially grueling. I'm grateful that during this exceptional period, the Yunqi team moved so efficiently to organize and deliver such practical, grounded sessions and counsel for founders.
Xuwen Fu — Co-founder & CEO, Innosilicon
Listening to so many seasoned peers share their experiences — though our industries differed in form — there was so much to learn from. Having my own prior decisions validated by so many predecessors was itself deeply rewarding.

Lintong Li — Executive President, Dongjing E-Commerce
Life itself is full of uncertainty. All we can do is move forward with certainty in uncertain environments. Doing things right and doing the right things carry equal weight — every company must carefully balance the dynamic equilibrium between speed and quality, cost and efficiency, scale and cash flow. The "Yunjian" series is a touchstone for rethinking these fundamentals; it's not a brief gathering, but a fresh beginning.
Bridging Industry and Academia
Co-creating the ecosystem
This year, we continued digging deep into the tech frontier, reading industry futures, and actively promoting industry-academia collaboration — accumulating resources for our family companies, meeting specific needs at specific stages, and co-creating a healthy industry ecosystem.
Our year-opening event, "2022 Yunjihui" Yunqi Demo Day, featured two days and four tracks across "Tech Industrialization" and "Industry Digitalization," drawing 1,100+ registered attendees, with nearly 900 sign-ups per session on average, covering major primary and secondary market investors. Each presenting company averaged 50+ new investment leads, laying solid groundwork for this year's fundraising.
