5Y News | Qintian Zhika Closes Nearly $10 Million Angel Round
5Y Capital has long focused on paradigm shifts driven by technology.
Autonomous trucking startup Qingtian Intelligent Trucking recently announced the completion of a nearly $10 million angel funding round, with 5Y Capital as the sole investor. The proceeds will primarily support the company's rapid launch, including team expansion and autonomous truck road testing.
"5Y Capital has long been focused on the paradigm shift in technology and commerce driven by autonomous driving," said Peter. "We believe the trillion-RMB highway logistics market will be the first to achieve commercial viability through autonomous trucks, delivering significant improvements in safety, efficiency, and economic returns. After years of development, the autonomous driving industry has made substantial progress across technology, supply chain, and policy dimensions. As an experienced young team, Qingtian Intelligent Trucking has the opportunity to start from a higher baseline and achieve the zero-to-one breakthrough with greater acceleration, becoming a leading player in this space."
Founded in November 2021, Qingtian Intelligent Trucking is a startup dedicated to autonomous truck technology R&D and logistics transportation. The company currently employs nearly 20 people, all with extensive autonomous driving industry experience. Its two co-founders are Zhenhao Pan, former CTO of Pony.ai's trucking unit PonyFreight, and Youhan Sun, former head of planning and control for PonyFreight's U.S. team.
Zhenhao Pan noted that the autonomous trucking industry remains in its early stages of development, with neither competitive dynamics nor business models fully settled. This creates an opening for startups like Qingtian Intelligent Trucking. In the current logistics industry, long-haul routes typically require two to three drivers. With autonomous driving systems, the business model remains viable even with just one driver retained, significantly alleviating industry pain points around driver fatigue and high labor costs.
Pan also emphasized that achieving commercial viability in autonomous trucking requires three indispensable elements: technology R&D, fleet operations management, and vehicle mass production. Qingtian Intelligent Trucking has already accumulated considerable experience in both autonomous truck development and operations. "In our early phase, we will leverage our existing technical expertise to move quickly and establish a leading position in this competitive landscape. Going forward, the company will rapidly generate revenue through fleet operations, using that as a foundation for large-scale commercialization."

5Y Capital seeks out, supports, and inspires entrepreneurs who dare to walk alone, providing support from inspiration to all aspects of operations. We believe that if the world begins to believe in the madness that others see in you, the world will become a different place.
