5Y News | PAM2L Biotechnologies Completes Angel Round, Launching New Chapter in Synthetic Biomaterial R&D
5Y Capital continues to seek out and support technology innovation companies.

PAM2L Biotechnologies recently announced the completion of an angel round totaling nearly $5 million, with 5Y Capital as the sole investor. This financing marks the company's official launch of R&D in novel synthetic biology materials and the development of related medical pipeline products.
Xutian Jing, Managing Director at 5Y Capital, commented: "Synthetic biology can engineer organisms to create new substances that traditional chemical industries cannot produce, laying the scientific foundation for humanity to continuously invent new materials in the future. Developing new materials with superior properties and bringing them to market is an endeavor of tremendous social value. 5Y Capital is glad to support this kind of innovation. PAM2L's team has built up deep scientific expertise and demonstrated real innovation over the long term, which gives us strong confidence, and we look forward to the company's further breakthroughs."
Founded in 2021 by Dr. Chao Zhong — a researcher at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars — PAM2L Biotechnologies develops bio-based materials and related medical products powered by dual-core technologies in synthetic biology and machine learning, providing customers with safe, reliable, and sustainable solutions. The company is currently based at the Shenzhen Engineering Biology Industry Innovation Center in Guangming New District, a representative example of the "upstairs-downstairs innovation and entrepreneurship complex" pioneered by the Synthetic Biology Institute at SIAT.
Cui Junfeng, co-founder and CEO of PAM2L Biotechnologies, told Guangdong Television: "With this funding, we can devote the vast majority of it to product development and industrial translation, thanks largely to the first-mover advantage of the large-scale infrastructure platform at the Shenzhen Institute of Synthetic Biology. We've recruited core technical talent from both domestic and international pools, spanning synthetic biology technology, bioinformatics, metabolic engineering, immunology, and fermentation and purification process engineering, to drive the orderly mass production of our products in development. At the same time, we're planning and building GMP facilities. We expect to have products entering the clinical stage within 10 months, and products ready for market sale within two to three years."

5Y Capital (formerly Morningside Capital) currently manages approximately RMB 32 billion across USD and RMB dual-currency funds. 5Y Capital seeks out, supports, and inspires entrepreneurs who dare to stand alone, providing them with support that ranges from the spiritual to the operational. We believe that if the "crazy" you in others' eyes begins to be believed in, the world will become a different place.
