5Y News | XYZ Robotics Leads the Robot Hand-Eye Coordination Race, Closes $35 Million Series B Round
Liberating human hands, transforming the productive efficiency of society.

XYZ Robotics recently announced the completion of a $35 million Series B round led by Capital Today, with pro-rata and additional participation from existing shareholders Gaorong Capital, 5Y Capital, and Source Code Capital. Lighthouse Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor. Following this round, the company will increase R&D investment, deepen vertical integration of its technology stack, and build out scaled sales and delivery systems.
Peter, Executive Director at 5Y Capital, said: "5Y Capital is firmly bullish on the broad application of robotics technology over the next decade. XYZ Robotics possesses world-leading algorithm, research, and engineering capabilities. In its three years since founding, the company has focused on core technologies for robotic flexible manipulation and autonomous perception, developing highly productized and standardized solutions that broadly empower industries including manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce, and consumer goods. We believe that this young, pure, and extreme team led by Dr. Jiaji Zhou will push the boundaries of technology and accelerate the mission of liberating human hands and transforming how we produce."
Founded in June 2018 and headquartered in Shanghai, XYZ Robotics provides one-stop 3D vision picking solutions for logistics parcel sorting, depalletizing and palletizing, industrial loading/unloading, and assembly — enabled by leading robotic hand-eye coordination technology — accelerating the arrival of an era of fully autonomous robotic perception and manipulation.
Human repetitive labor in factories, warehouses, and similar workplaces can be categorized as walking with feet, operating with hands, and inspecting with eyes. XYZ Robotics aims to solve the largest and most repetitive, tedious category: operating with hands. XYZ Robotics' vision is "Pick Anything. Place Anywhere," and it defines itself as a technology-driven company that mass-produces a new kind of labor force and transforms social productivity.
Leveraging distinctive advantages in 3D vision algorithms, motion control algorithms, and gripper design, XYZ Robotics has rapidly accelerated its commercial deployment over the past year. It has already brought its robotic picking solutions to industries including e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products, with its products now widely deployed at leading companies across these sectors.

What makes XYZ Robotics most unique is its deep understanding of robotics. Through full-stack technology and integrated hardware-software solutions, XYZ Robotics empowers robots to achieve optimal technical specifications and usability, truly delivering value to users. Particularly in complex scenarios such as small-item unstructured picking in logistics and deep-bin unstructured loading/unloading in manufacturing, XYZ Robotics holds generational advantages over competitors on key metrics including cycle time, SKU and workpiece coverage, and empty-bin rates.
Regarding this funding round, Jiaji Zhou, Founder and CEO of XYZ Robotics, said: "First, I want to thank our team for their continued dedication. We share a unified belief in building the best robotic products and delivering real value to society. Over the past three years, we've persevered through every challenge and kept improving. We're honored to have earned Capital Today's confidence, and we believe this partnership will help further elevate our comprehensive capabilities and achieve new milestones. I also want to especially thank our existing shareholders for their continued oversubscribed support across multiple rounds and their consistent backing of our mission and vision. Empowering robots with autonomous perception and manipulation — hand-eye coordination — is an endless endeavor. Going forward, the company will on one hand scale the promotion of products within our existing technological boundaries, and on the other hand develop and integrate new technology stacks to unlock new incremental application scenarios."

5Y Capital (formerly Morningside Venture Capital) currently manages approximately $5 billion across USD and RMB dual-currency funds. We believe the world will be a better place when the crazy you that others see starts to be believed.
