Exploring the global market for food robots and AI.

Digital food tech company Tingting Technology has completed a Series A funding round of tens of millions of US dollars, led by Light-Year Ventures, with participation from Shenqi Capital, 5Y Capital, Damai Ventures, and others. Existing shareholders including Clear Water Bay Fund (founded by Professor Li Zexiang), Professor Gao Bingqiang and his Brizan Fund, and ZhiXing No.1 Fund (founded by Professor Gan Jie) all increased their stakes above their pro-rata rights. The proceeds will be used for product R&D, team building, and market expansion. Beituo Capital served as the long-term exclusive financial advisor.

Peter, Managing Director at 5Y Capital, said: "Food is the paramount necessity of the people. In dining — a trillion-dollar market that is both essential and high-frequency — Tingting Technology has skillfully combined robotics and AI to achieve remarkable breakthroughs in cooking quality and efficiency. We look forward to Rui Chen and her vibrant team leveraging their rich imagination and innovative spirit to continuously bring unprecedented experiences to hundreds of millions of users worldwide."

Founded in January 2021, Tingting Technology has completed multiple funding rounds over the past two years. Compared to its previous round, the company has made progress in hardware and software iteration, AI integration and application, and global market expansion.

"Humanity should adopt a fresh perspective on food — we should eat fresh ingredients, freshly prepared, with flavors that can be personalized, food that is beautiful and continuously created and shared," said Rui Chen, CEO of Tingting Technology. "Through robotics and AI, Tingting Technology aims to redefine cooking with science and art, accelerating the arrival of a digital food future."

How can digital and intelligent technologies enable more precise robotic control over the cooking process, delivering superior taste and texture? This is the question Tingting Technology is working to answer.

Specifically, on the hardware side, Tingting Technology achieves closed-loop control over core dimensions including temperature, seasoning, ingredients, and motion through self-developed sensors, and enables coordinated scheduling of multiple robots through modular components. On the AI side, it leverages multi-sensor fusion, multimodal perception, and multi-dimensional data mining to achieve dish generation, analysis, and cooking.

Regarding commercialization of its technology and products, Tingting Technology is targeting the global market, providing end-to-end digital kitchen solutions for leading restaurant and supermarket chains. Its business currently spans seven countries and regions worldwide, with established sales channels and service networks. Its client roster includes multiple Fortune 500 companies, with lighthouse customers continuing to make repeat purchases.

"In countries like those in Europe and America, labor costs, the number of chain locations, and the high demand for dish flavor and consistency are all driving forces for robotics replacing humans in dining scenarios. Just as warehouses and factories are becoming digital warehouses and digital factories, traditional kitchens will inevitably become digital kitchens — and leading customers have been waiting for good integrated solutions," Chen analyzed.

On the domestic front, Tingting Technology similarly focuses on chain restaurant enterprises and newer, more dynamic and rational food brands. At the same time, consumer-facing robotic products are also in development.

On the team front, R&D personnel account for over 70% of Tingting Technology's staff. Core team members hail from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Georgia Tech, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Tsinghua University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and previously held senior executive positions at KPMG, Intel, IBM, and other companies, with years of successful entrepreneurial and hands-on experience in robotics, dining, and internet industries. Founder and CEO Rui Chen is a serial entrepreneur with several years of experience operating and founding businesses in the food industry.

5Y Capital seeks out, supports, and inspires lonely entrepreneurs, providing them with support from the spiritual to all operational aspects. We believe that if the "crazy" you in others' eyes begins to be believed in, the world will become a different place.
