5Y News | GigaAI Robotics Completes Second Close of Series A Funding Round at Hundreds of Millions of RMB
Full-stack advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) solutions have entered mass production, simultaneously driving the commercial deployment of 3D visual perception products.
Just three months after closing the first tranche of its Series A at $30 million, autonomous driving solutions provider PhiGent Robotics (鉴智机器人) announced the second tranche of its Series A at the hundred-million-yuan level, co-led by Shenzhen Capital Group and Houxue Fund, with GSR Ventures continuing to increase its stake.
Completing four funding rounds in less than a year since its founding reflects the trust that both new and existing shareholders have placed in PhiGent's founding team — particularly their entrepreneurial experience, technical approach, and commercial progress.
PhiGent's founding team comes from accomplished AI startups including DeePhi Tech and Horizon Robotics, with proven entrepreneurial track records and extensive hands-on deployment experience. The core team hails from top-tier domestic and international AI algorithm, software, and chip companies, as well as leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. To date, the team has grown to 200 people and continues to attract industry specialists. In less than a year, the company has established R&D and service centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. The addition of Shenzhen Capital Group — a "national team" investor with strong industrial investment capabilities — will also accelerate the establishment of PhiGent's R&D and sales service center in Shenzhen to serve key OEM and Tier 1 customers in South China.
As a leading next-generation autonomous driving solutions provider centered on 3D visual understanding, PhiGent has established a product portfolio spanning "high-level autonomous driving solutions + binocular vision radar hardware-software systems." Its high-level autonomous driving solution supports recognition of 100+ target categories at the perception level, with all metrics reaching industry-leading standards; at the planning and control level, it achieves full-speed-range active safety functions meeting Euro-NCAP 2023 five-star standards. The binocular vision radar, powered by PhiGent's self-developed algorithms, supports flexible configurations from 2MP to 8MP resolution and 60°/100°/120° field of view, enabling synchronized RGB point cloud and depth map output, all-type target detection, and pixel-level depth detection. Together with its supporting toolchain, this provides a differentiated, higher-quality forward perception solution for next-generation high-level autonomous driving.
Based on its product progress and commercial roadmap, the company has already rapidly secured multiple mass-production designated projects from leading automakers. It will begin delivering autonomous driving solutions covering active safety and highway pilot assist functions in Q3 and Q4 this year, with full-scenario highway pilot assist, integrated driving-parking, and point-to-point autonomous driving solutions gradually rolling out in 2023. Meanwhile, the team's fully self-developed binocular vision radar product achieved full-function vehicle integration in June 2022 and has passed over fifty automotive-grade tests, with official launch expected by year-end to enable large-scale front-loading mass production for OEMs.
Particularly noteworthy is PhiGent's collaborative approach to building an autonomous driving ecosystem with strategic partners. In less than three months, the company successfully launched an L2++ autonomous driving mass-production solution based on Horizon Robotics' automotive-grade AI chip Journey 5, becoming the first company to achieve an autonomous driving system solution on Journey 5 — with mass production expected to accelerate.
With the support of this funding round, PhiGent will continue advancing its vision of "building 3D intelligent computing for autonomous driving and robotics through hardware-software co-optimization, enabling intelligent interaction between machines and the physical world." The company will work closely with upstream and downstream partners in the industry to provide OEM customers with higher-quality autonomous driving solutions.
5Y Capital seeks out, supports, and inspires entrepreneurs who dare to stand alone, providing support from spiritual encouragement to full operational backing. We believe that if the "crazy" you that others see starts to be believed in, the world will become a different place.
