5Y News | AgileX Robotics Completes Series A Financing to Accelerate Deployment of Mobile Robot Industry Application Solutions
5Y Capital is optimistic about AgileX Robotics's continued innovation and iteration capabilities, and looks forward to the company evolving into a platform enterprise for mobile robots.

In July 2021, AgileX Robotics, a robotics solutions provider focused on outdoor scenarios, completed a Series A funding round of over 100 million RMB. The investors were HSG, 5Y Capital, Vertex Ventures China, and HKX — all top-tier funds. The proceeds will be used to develop more powerful autonomous navigation low-speed unmanned driving systems, combined with a high-performance mobile chassis matrix, to deepen deployment of industry-wide application solutions.
Peter, Executive Director at 5Y Capital, said: "Through outstanding engineering and productization capabilities, AgileX Robotics has consolidated the highly fragmented and customized mobile robotics market into several standardized chassis platforms. With its rich perception and autonomous driving solutions, it has significantly lowered the barrier to mobile robotics innovation and dramatically accelerated iteration speed. 5Y Capital is optimistic about AgileX Robotics's continued innovation and iteration capabilities, and looks forward to the company developing into a platform-type enterprise for mobile robots."
Founded in 2016, AgileX Robotics is a world-leading mobile robot chassis manufacturer and mobile robotics system solutions provider with exceptionally strong upper-level software development capabilities. Its founding and R&D teams come from leading companies such as DJI and MathWorks, as well as renowned domestic research institutions. The company was incubated by Professor Li Zexiang of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, who has high expectations for its future.
At present, AgileX Robotics has taken the lead in achieving global sales scale and earned recognition from customers worldwide: Its partners include over 1,000 enterprise clients such as Alibaba, Huawei, Honda, and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, and it has established deep collaborations with more than fifty top universities including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Carnegie Mellon University, and New York University. The cooperative application scenarios already number in the thousands, primarily covering low-speed unmanned logistics, agricultural harvesting, smart factories, security patrol, disinfection and epidemic prevention, geographic surveying, and scientific research and education in outdoor industries.

Selected industry application cases of AgileX Robotics
AgileX Robotics independently develops and manufactures multiple high-performance, developer-friendly mobile robot chassis, establishing a comprehensive product matrix including four-wheel differential, four-wheel Ackermann, tracked, and four-wheel four-steering types. This achieves full coverage of load capacity, endurance, speed, and motion modes across different industry scenarios, serving robotics application development across all industries.
Wei Jidong, founder of AgileX Robotics, said: "There are two main mindsets in mobile robot chassis design and development: the robotics mindset and the automotive mindset. Products developed with the robotics mindset should prioritize flexibility. In this dimension, AgileX Robotics has developed two four-wheel four-steering robot chassis. These products have clear advantages in flexibility and strong competitiveness, and are currently in the pilot production and customer validation phase. The HUNTER series chassis, developed with the automotive mindset, should deliver excellent performance in speed and load capacity — running at 10 kilometers per hour with a load capacity of 150 kilograms." Currently, AgileX Robotics ranks first in chassis sales domestically, achieving 200% annual sales growth and gaining recognition from global customers.

AgileX Robotics standard mobile chassis product matrix
AgileX Robotics chassis come with standard upper-level secondary development interfaces. By adding different upper components and navigation systems, they enable application development for indoor and outdoor patrol, environmental detection, logistics and delivery, and other industry scenarios. Based on this, AgileX Robotics provides customers with integrated hardware-to-software solutions, including autonomous driving solutions, parallel driving solutions, and robotics education kits, helping customers rapidly deploy core applications in industry scenarios and achieve experimental validation in autonomous driving, mechanical control, computer science, and vehicle engineering.
In the first half of this year, AgileX Robotics strongly launched a composite mobile manipulation robot and the outdoor unmanned waypoint navigation development platform Autopilot kit, enabling deep learning tasks such as autonomous positioning, unmanned waypoint navigation, route planning, autonomous obstacle avoidance, coordinated control, and grasping operations — providing a more powerful deep application development platform for robotics industry applications and education research.

Identifying emerging markets and rapidly capturing them is a major next step for AgileX Robotics. Wei Jidong, founder and CEO of AgileX Robotics, said: "Previously, we would preset demand first, then develop products, only to discover years later that the market was quite niche or even nonexistent. Going forward, we will be market-oriented, closely follow industry development trends, deeply understand customer needs, expand our global market service team, and focus on cultivating technical 'tension.' Only when a company's key technologies possess sufficiently resilient tension can it seize emerging demand in complex and changing external environments and rapidly scale the market."
In the future, AgileX Robotics will also focus on promoting the deployment of low-speed unmanned driving systems with autonomous navigation capabilities, further solidifying its technical foundation. Meanwhile, AgileX Robotics will continue to deeply explore untapped domestic markets and accelerate its overseas expansion, enlarge its service team, closely follow customer needs, and take creating user value as its premise to deeply cultivate industry application solutions and services.
