Aikaili Biotech (艾凯生物) Closes Over RMB 200 Million Series A+ Round

Suzhou Aikaili Biotech, a company focused on developing next-generation universal off-the-shelf cell therapies using iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells), recently announced the completion of an oversubscribed Series A+ round of over RMB 200 million. Thanks to its forward-thinking innovation and strong R&D capabilities, Aikaili has attracted significant market attention and recognition since its founding in March 2021, securing investments from Xihu Innovation Investment, Lianxin Capital, 5Y Capital, Kaifeng Venture Capital, Huaxin Investment, and Delian Capital. The company raised its seed round just one month after inception, followed by a nearly RMB 100 million Series A round five months later. In less than a year, Aikaili has completed three funding rounds totaling over RMB 300 million. Read more

HAI ROBOTICS Opens Asia's First ACR Showroom

On March 1, HAI ROBOTICS opened Asia's first showroom in Saitama, Japan, showcasing its ACR (Autonomous Case-handling Robot) solutions. The facility demonstrates a complete ACR solution featuring the HAIPICK A42 robot and HAIQ intelligent warehouse management platform, allowing customers to see how the robots load, unload, and pick goods. Visitors can also place their own products in totes and on shelves to simulate their specific environments for hands-on testing. Read more

Oasis Raises Tens of Millions in Series B

Metaverse social platform Oasis announced in March the completion of a Series B round of tens of millions of US dollars, led by 5Y Capital, Oasis Capital, and BAI Capital. Founded in 2018, Oasis had previously raised from 5Y Capital, BAI Capital, ZhiChun Capital, K2VC, and Qinghan Fund. According to SensorTower data, Oasis added over 6 million registered users in Q4 2021, making it one of the fastest-growing metaverse social products globally. Read more

WeDoctor and Country Garden Form Strategic Partnership

On March 2, Country Garden and WeDoctor formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will collaborate to build a "Healthy Community" demonstration project centered on health and integrating online and offline scenarios. Leveraging their respective strengths, they will focus on creating a full-cycle, full-chain digital health community HMO (Health Management Organization) system, enriching community medical hardware and software infrastructure, expanding hospital scenarios, and extending medical services to provide Country Garden residents with multi-level, multi-dimensional, customized health management services.

戏精桃花源 (Drama Peach Blossom Spring) Officially Launches

On March 26, 戏精桃花源, a large-scale immersive Chinese-themed commercial space created by Beijing Drama Culture, officially opened at Fulicheng Plaza on Beijing's East Third Ring Road. Continuing the company's signature "Chinese style," the project is set against the backdrop of the Peach Blossom Spring from Tao Yuanming's classic tale. Through immersive spatial content, live actors, narrative performances, and offline games combined with immersive retail, it creates a leisure and entertainment destination for young people in the heart of Beijing. Pony.ai Completes Series D Round, Forms Strategic Partnership with NavInfo

Pony.ai announced in March the completion of its Series D round at an overall valuation of USD 8.5 billion. The proceeds will be used for team expansion, R&D, scaling of Robotaxi and autonomous trucking fleets, global testing and operations, mass production of autonomous driving technology, and commercial deployment. 5Y co-led Pony.ai's Series A and has continued to support the company through Series B, C, and D. Additionally, on March 28, Pony.ai announced a comprehensive strategic partnership with NavInfo. The two companies will combine their respective technical strengths to jointly develop intelligent driving hardware and software solutions, with full cooperation in high-precision mapping and positioning, accelerating product commercialization and advancing the exploration and innovation of cutting-edge autonomous driving technology. Xiaomi Donates Nearly 360,000 Pandemic Relief Items to Jilin Provincial Charity Federation

On March 16, Xiaomi announced a donation of nearly 360,000 urgently needed pandemic relief items to the Jilin Provincial Charity Federation, including N95 masks, disinfectant, and protective suits. With coordination through Xiaomi Youpin, all supplies were shipped overnight on the 15th. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Public Welfare Platform, as one of the online fundraising platforms designated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, partnered with 5A-rated charity Aden Foundation to launch an emergency "Standing Together, Fighting the Pandemic" campaign, accepting voluntary donations to help support Jilin's COVID-19 response. Xpeng Motors Joins Europe's Three Major Automotive Associations

Xpeng Motors announced in March that it has officially become a member of AVERE (European Association for Electromobility), RAI Vereniging (Dutch automotive industry association), and BIL Sweden (Swedish automotive industry association) — the first Chinese brand to simultaneously join all three major European automotive associations. Xpeng will leverage its leading capabilities in innovation and sustainable mobility to bring more insights and innovation to the smart EV sector and contribute to the development and implementation of the EU Commission's sustainable and smart mobility strategy. Xinhuazhang Forms Strategic Partnership with Nuclei System Technology

Xinhuazhang Technology formally announced a strategic partnership with domestic RISC-V processor IP provider Nuclei System Technology. Nuclei will officially adopt Xinhuazhang's self-developed next-generation intelligent verification system GalaxPSS and digital simulator GalaxSim, among other EDA verification products, to accelerate the design and development of its next-generation complex RISC-V processor IP. China Successfully Launches Galaxy Space's Second Batch of Mass-Produced Satellites

At 14:01 on March 5, China successfully launched six low-orbit broadband communication satellites — Galaxy Space's second batch of mass-produced satellites — into their designated orbits from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center using a Long March 2C carrier rocket. The mission also carried a remote sensing satellite. This successful launch verified China's capabilities in low-cost, mass satellite production and network operations — essential for building mega-constellations for satellite internet — and represents a positive step forward for the development of integrated commercial low-orbit satellite communication and remote sensing technology in China. XVERSE Raises USD 120 Million

XVERSE announced the completion of its Series A+ round, led by HSG, with participation from Temasek and CPE Yuanfeng. Existing investors Gaorong Capital, 5Y Capital, and Hillhouse continued their support from the angel round onward. The previous Series A was led by Hillhouse. The two rounds totaled USD 120 million. On March 17, Viomi Technology held its 2022 Spring Strategic Product Launch online. The company unveiled its one-stop whole-home smart solution "1=N44" and announced a range of new products including the Space Pro AI whole-room air conditioner, Royal Pro coKiing high-end AI dual-screen refrigerator, Boss AI large-screen refrigerator, Royal Pro coKiing high-end AI dual-drum washing machine, Space AI vision range hood, Super 2 2000G Quanxian AI water purifier, and Royal AI laser cinema. This episode of 5Y Tavern features three female founders — Gongzhu of StartDT (奇点云), Wan Min of BestSign (上上签), and Xiao Fangfang of UHUA LIN (悠桦林). Agora x 5Y: "Supersonic Program" Welcomes 20 Real-Time Interaction Startups

On March 12, a lively gamified virtual conference was held online. Participants could create their own avatars or use AI facemoji to interact and communicate in real time in a virtual lounge. This was the kickoff for the Spring 2022 Supersonic Program. Due to the pandemic, the opening was held virtually, supported by Vland, a permanent startup partner from the Fall 2021 cohort.

The Supersonic Program is jointly launched by Agora and 5Y. The Spring 2022 cohort began recruitment in February. Over more than 20 days, through application screening, one-on-one video interviews, and multi-angle evaluation, 20 startups were selected from 203 applicants to join this cohort and begin their journey in the startup partner program.
