C咖 Closes Series B Round
Emerging skincare brand C咖 announced in January the completion of its Series B round led by SIG, with follow-on investment from existing shareholders Shunwei Capital, Buer Capital, and Belle Consumer Fund. The proceeds will primarily go toward product line expansion and R&D. This marks C咖's third funding round in seven months. Since commencing operations in March 2021, C咖 raised two rounds that June and September. 5Y Capital invested in its angel round. Currently, C咖's star product "C咖 Cleansing Mini Jar Mask" ranks #1 in Tmall's face mask category and #1 in Douyin's mask category. Read more
Superparametric Technology Closes Series B Round
Superparametric Technology announced in January the completion of a $100 million Series B round led by HSG, with follow-on investment from existing shareholders 5Y Capital and Gaorong Capital. Founded in early 2019, Superparametric is dedicated to transforming game content production through AI technology, building sentient AI, and redefining the relationship between humans and AI. Founder Yongshuo Liu previously served as General Manager of Tencent AI Lab and as a T4 technical expert. The team began exploring game AI as early as 2015, developing the world-class Go AI "Jueyi" and Honor of Kings AI "Juewu," and was the first in the industry to achieve breakthroughs in 3D FPS game AI. 5Y Capital has supported multiple funding rounds for Superparametric since its founding in 2019. Horizon Robotics and Holomatic Enter Strategic Partnership
On January 26, Horizon Robotics signed a strategic partnership with Holomatic, a leading domestic provider of autonomous driving mass-production solutions. The two parties will collaborate deeply in autonomous driving, jointly exploring cutting-edge intelligent vehicle core technologies and advanced system integration solutions, and working together to advance the commercialization of full-scenario autonomous driving. Under the agreement, Horizon Robotics will support Holomatic's development of integrated driving-and-parking autonomous driving hardware and software solutions based on its Journey 3 and Journey 5 chips, visual perception algorithms, and toolchain, building a service-oriented software architecture (SOA) and jointly constructing a full-stack autonomous driving solution that continuously iterates through data-driven development. XtalPi Partners with GeneQuantum Healthcare
XtalPi, a drug R&D company powered by intelligent and automated technologies, announced a project collaboration with GeneQuantum Healthcare, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing breakthrough innovative bioconjugate drugs. The two parties will jointly advance the R&D of novel antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) projects, aiming to develop innovative drugs with clear clinical advantages and provide patients with safer, more effective, and more accessible treatment options. Novosense Microelectronics Closes Series D Round
Novosense Microelectronics, a provider of high-performance intelligent audio and advanced optical solutions, announced in January the completion of a multi-hundred-million-yuan Series D round led by 5Y Capital, with follow-on investment from ByteDance and Juhua Chuanxin, and continued support from existing shareholders Hua Capital and Source Code Capital. The proceeds will be used to accelerate product iteration and commercialization across its product lines, expand team talent density, and explore new products and market directions. Read more
Leman Biotech Closes Nearly 100 Million Yuan Angel Round
Shenzhen Leman Biotech, a company developing novel tumor immunotherapy drugs based on immune metabolic reprogramming and AI, announced the completion of a nearly 100 million yuan angel round. The round was led by Tiantu Capital, with 5Y Capital and XtalPi as co-investors. The proceeds will be used to accelerate preclinical research on its immune metabolic reprogramming-based biologic drugs, advance its pipeline of novel metabolism-enhanced CAR-T cell therapies toward clinical trials, and expand the application scope of its proprietary immune metabolic reprogramming platform to empower next-generation anti-tumor drug development across additional immunotherapy areas. Moore Threads and Tongfang Computer Enter Strategic Partnership
Moore Threads and Tongfang Computer formally established a strategic partnership in January. Combining their technical capabilities and ecosystem advantages, the two parties will jointly build the Perfect Experience System (PES) to create personal and data center computing devices at internationally leading levels, delivering optimal experiences for consumers and users. They will collaborate comprehensively on product technology implementation, industry joint labs, ecosystem building, and market promotion, jointly supporting enterprise and societal digital transformation. ONES Acquires WizNote
ONES, focused on enterprise R&D management, announced in January the full acquisition of WizNote, a well-known document tool. Founded in 2011, WizNote is a collaborative document and knowledge management tool with strong user reputation, serving over 5 million individual users and large enterprises including Huawei, Baidu, and major real estate groups. In recent years, the WizNote team developed a next-generation editor kernel with fully independent intellectual property rights, supporting innovative capabilities including multi-user collaboration, block editing, and bidirectional linking. Following the acquisition, WizNote will contribute these core capabilities to ONES Wiki. ONES Wiki is a key module in the ONES product matrix, targeting document knowledge bases for R&D-driven enterprises. With WizNote's core capabilities, ONES Wiki will undergo a major version upgrade. Qingtian Trucker Closes Angel Round
Autonomous trucking company Qingtian Trucker announced in January the completion of a nearly $10 million angel round with exclusive investment from 5Y Capital. The proceeds will primarily support the company's rapid ramp-up, including team expansion and autonomous truck road testing. Founded in November 2021, Qingtian Trucker is a startup dedicated to autonomous trucking technology development and logistics transportation. Its two co-founders are Zhenhao Pan, former CTO of Pony.ai's trucking unit PonyTron, and Youhan Sun, former head of planning and control for PonyTron's US team. Currently, Qingtian Trucker's team numbers nearly 20, all with deep autonomous driving industry experience. Read more
ReviR Therapeutics Closes Pre-A Round
AI+RNA startup ReviR Therapeutics announced in January that, following its May 2021 angel round from 5Y Capital and CDH Investments VGC, it has completed a Pre-A round from Shunwei Capital, Sky9 Capital, and Tiantu Capital, with pro-rata follow-on from existing shareholders 5Y Capital and CDH Investments VGC, bringing total funding to tens of millions of dollars. The proceeds will be used to continue advancing evaluation and validation of ReviR's voyageR™ AI technology platform. By combining machine learning with advanced RNA biology R&D technologies, ReviR will further accelerate candidate compound screening and development, laying groundwork for broad clinical application. SenseTime Partners with Dunhuang Cultural and Creative to Launch "AI+Digital Collectibles"
SenseTime signed a strategic partnership with Dunhuang Cultural and Creative and Xinzenxin, centered on the "Dunhuang Cultural and Creative" IP, to collaborate comprehensively and deeply in digital collectibles. By combining SenseTime's leading original AI and AR technologies with the compassion, wisdom, and beauty embodied in Dunhuang culture, the three parties will jointly issue a series of innovative Dunhuang culture "digital collectibles," pioneering a new form of digital collectibles where art and culture merge with modern technology. Shukun Technology Signs Strategic Partnership with Meinian
Leading global AI medical platform Shukun Technology and preventive medicine leader Meinian Health Group signed a strategic partnership in Beijing in January. The two parties will collaborate deeply on chronic disease early screening and health management, jointly building a new era of "intelligent health management." Shukun Technology will apply its globally original AI technology and "digital health doctor" products to intelligently upgrade Meinian Health Group's health examination and medical institutions nationwide, actively driving comprehensive implementation of "intelligent health management" application scenarios. Unknown and Qihui Bio Enter Strategic Partnership
Shenzhen Unknown Biotech and Qihui Biotechnology (Yangzhou) jointly announced a strategic partnership. The two parties will integrate their respective technologies and platform advantages to collaborate deeply in gut microbiota extraction, purification, clinical application, and AI drug development, and will work to promote standardized quality control and regulatory oversight of gut microbiota extraction technology and microecological clinical preparation technology in China, fostering orderly, healthy development of the gut microecology industry. Pony.ai Unveils Self-Developed Automotive-Grade Computing Unit
On January 20, Pony.ai announced the launch of its self-developed automotive-grade computing unit, powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin™ system-on-chip. Through deep collaboration with NVIDIA, Pony.ai achieved a milestone breakthrough from industrial-grade to automotive-grade computing, enabling capabilities ranging from basic to advanced autonomous driving applications. With the automotive-grade computing unit, Pony.ai is advancing the automotive mass production of its next-generation autonomous driving hardware and software system to accelerate large-scale deployment of L4 autonomous driving technology. Pony.ai has already begun road testing with NVIDIA DRIVE Orin, with its software system capable of real-time low-latency operation on Orin. Xpeng Motors Supercharging Network Covers All Prefecture-Level Cities Nationwide
Xpeng Motors announced in January that its supercharging network has reached 337 cities nationwide, becoming the first EV manufacturer in the industry to achieve full coverage of all 337 prefecture-level cities. Among these 337 cities, including Nujiang, Qamdo, and Nyingchi, Xpeng Motors provides scarce 180kW DC supercharging services and will fulfill its social responsibility by opening its supercharging stations to the public in areas with limited charging infrastructure (including but not limited to these 12 cities). GalaxySpace Achieves Batch Production of LEO Broadband Communication Satellites
On January 18, six LEO broadband communication satellites from GalaxySpace rolled off its self-built satellite R&D production line, passed factory review, and were shipped to the launch site for launch in Q1 2022 aboard a Long March 2C rocket. GalaxySpace initiated small-batch satellite development in early 2021, completing all design, assembly, testing, verification, and factory delivery within 11 months — marking China's first batch production of LEO broadband communication satellites. The factory delivery of these satellites validated GalaxySpace's small-batch production capabilities and low-cost development model, heralding the beginning of low-cost, batch satellite manufacturing in China. Multiple 5Y Portfolio Companies Named to ChinaVenture 2021 "Sharp 100" List
ChinaVenture released its 2021 "Sharp 100" list in January. The list aims to identify participants and witnesses in the new round of transformation, receiving active applications from over 800 companies. ChinaVenture Research Institute comprehensively selected 100 most innovative and growth-oriented new economy companies based on three dimensions: external attention, industry synergy, and industry influence. 5Y portfolio companies Vastai Technologies, Novosense Microelectronics, Moody, Medbanks Health, Taimei Medical, Lightelligence, Xinhuazhang, XinYaohui, Neox Biotech, and Galaxy Space were named to the list.
