Matrix Origin recently closed a Pre-A funding round of several million dollars, led by 21Vianet with Honour Base as a co-investor. Following this round, the company will expand from its hyper-converged heterogeneous database MatrixOne into AI infrastructure and AI platform, while deepening collaboration with 21Vianet's AIDC business.
Matrix Origin previously raised tens of millions of dollars in an angel+ round in 2021, led by Eastern Bell Capital with 5Y Capital and K2VC as co-investors. In 2023, the company launched the commercial MatrixOne Enterprise Edition and MatrixOne Cloud services, achieving initial application validation and commercial deployment across industrial, energy, and internet sectors.
This funding round will support development of MatrixOS, a minimalist, unified, open-source AI-native data intelligence operating system spanning the full domain. The system will comprise three components: MatrixDC, a large-scale heterogeneous compute management and scheduling platform; MatrixOne, a hyper-converged heterogeneous data management platform; and MatrixGenesis, an AI agent application development platform. The goal is to build an AI-native software platform connecting compute, data, knowledge, models, and enterprise applications.
MatrixDC will serve as the resource foundation for MatrixOne and MatrixGenesis, using cloud-native technology to help enterprises build AI-native resource management and scheduling platforms. MatrixGenesis will work alongside MatrixOne to provide data scientists, AI developers, and end users with a one-stop platform for data sharing and distribution, model training, and large model application development, deployment, and operations.
A GPU platform service called neolink.ai, built on Matrix Origin's MatrixOS and 21Vianet's latest AIDC products, will officially launch in Q3 2024.
