Agora x 5Y Capital: 2022 RTE Innovation Challenge Final Agenda Revealed
Meet the coolest people, talk about the most cutting-edge things!

As mobile internet enters its second decade, user demands have gradually shifted from simple information consumption — text, images, and video — toward greater interactivity and real-time engagement. As user expectations evolve, Real-Time Engagement (RTE) technologies have found broader application across a wide range of scenarios.
From the metaverse and virtual conferences to livestream co-hosting, virtual idol concerts, smart interactive desk lamps, and remote ultrasound — these real-time interactive experiences have greatly enhanced convenience and entertainment in daily life, while also fueling the passion of tech entrepreneurs.
But new RTE scenarios extend far beyond these examples. More innovative use cases remain to be explored and uncovered through collaboration across technology, business, and distribution partners within the industry. On the RTE track, Agora has been working to help entrepreneurs build and innovate at lower cost and higher efficiency. As one of Agora's early investors, 5Y Capital hopes to join forces with Agora to discover and empower more innovative companies, making the industry more vibrant.
Last year, Agora and 5Y launched the "Supersonic Program" entrepreneurship camp to empower RTE founders. This year, the program's resources have been upgraded to grow alongside more outstanding entrepreneurs. The culminating event of the Supersonic Program — the second RTE Innovation Competition final — is also approaching.
From November 1 to November 4, the RTE 2022 Real-Time Internet Conference, hosted by Agora and the RTE Developer Community, will take place online. The ecosystem forum on November 4 will focus on the RTE Innovation Competition final and the connection, co-creation, and empowerment of the RTE ecosystem, inviting partners from various fields to discuss and exchange ideas on new demands, new directions, and innovative value in real-time engagement.

Innovation Scenario Competition: See the Latest, Coolest RTE Applications
In the real-time internet space, an ever-growing number of pioneering entrepreneurs are breaking new ground and bringing fresh surprises to the industry.
Last year, Agora partnered with 5Y to launch the "Supersonic Program" entrepreneurship camp, providing multi-dimensional resources to RTE founders and producing a cohort of outstanding permanent Supersonic partners such as Chaociyuan, vland, and Authing. The competition also garnered significant attention across the tech startup and investment communities. This year, the Supersonic Program has upgraded its resources and pressed forward, attracting a new wave of talented entrepreneurs eager to grow together.
On the morning of November 4, the ecosystem forum will host the final of the "2nd RTE Innovation Competition." The twelve competing teams will comprise the top eight from this year's Supersonic Program spring and fall cohorts, plus the top four from the Startup Battlefield competitions in North America and the Asia-Pacific region, all vying for the top three spots.
The finalists cover emerging scenarios including metaverse social networking, XR, virtual events, interactive virtual streamers, smart cockpits, and industrial remote collaboration, as well as more established domains like API management, remote interviewing, and education — a mix that is both innovative and diverse. The competing founders will present their meticulously honed projects to vertical industry technology and product experts as well as investors. A panel of professional judges will score each project across six dimensions: team, product, technology, operations, strategy, and new RTE scenarios, to select the top three. Stay tuned!

In addition to the final, before the announcement and awards ceremony for the top three, Agora founder and CEO Tony Zhao will join investors from 5Y Capital, GGV Capital, and Matrix Partners China for a fireside chat on how to harness ecosystem strength to weather challenges together, and how to face the industry's future.
Ecosystem Forum: Exploring the Coolest, Most Cutting-Edge RTE Questions
Beyond the morning competition, the afternoon ecosystem forum will revolve around topics such as "Super Co-Creation, Ecosystem Connection," "New RTE Species," "New RTE Technology Ecosystem," and "RTE Scenario Value Innovation and New Directions," inviting partners from within the Agora ecosystem to exchange ideas. The Agora ecosystem will also showcase its achievements in "connection, co-creation, and empowerment" with partners across innovative RTE scenarios, technology products, and business channels.

On the agenda, Yang Hui, head of Agora's Ecosystem Operations Center, will deliver a keynote titled "Building the RTE Super Co-Creation Accelerator," introducing Agora's thinking and understanding of the industry as a leading RTE player, grounded in its three core capabilities: connection, co-creation, and empowerment.
As more innovators and entrepreneurs enter the space, the RTE industry track continues to grow. Healthy, orderly industry development requires joint effort from multiple stakeholders. For the "Super Co-Creation, Ecosystem Connection" roundtable, Agora has invited industry leaders including Li Bo, deputy chief engineer of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology's Teleterminal Labs and head of the Real-Time Engagement Consortium (REC); Zhu Jiawei, deputy general manager of China Mobile Migu Culture's BSG Marketing Unit and deputy general manager of Migu Video; Wu Yimin, director of platform partnerships at Unity China; Lu Yao, investment director at HTC and head of the VIVE X accelerator; and Hu Lin, vice president of AWE Asia, to join Yang Hui in in-depth discussion and reflection on data security and compliance, regional development, industry standards, and talent cultivation in the RTE sector.
Over the past two years, the metaverse has undoubtedly been the hottest topic, with innovative metaverse-based scenarios emerging constantly. Yet companies building these scenarios face significant technical hurdles. At this forum, Wang Shi, senior researcher at GeekPark, will join permanent Supersonic partners Yu Hao, founder and CEO of tatame; Long Bai, co-founder of Huokeduo; and Luan Xuan, founder of Emerge, to exchange ideas and spark new thinking around customers' real demands for the metaverse, the differences between digital and virtual worlds, and the value that real-time interaction brings to the metaverse.
Meanwhile, against the backdrop of normalized pandemic prevention and control, demand for at-home entertainment continues to grow. Traditional single-player gaming no longer suffices for the general public. More innovative scenarios combining RTE technology with content — such as virtual concerts, virtual exhibitions, and virtual museums — are emerging. Agora's ecosystem has also invited representatives from its "Sound Selection Program," including Lin Shun, CEO of Cocos; Li Jingmin, founder and CEO of Huancheng Huyu; Wei Xianyu, co-founder and CTO of SUD; and Wu Changxia, founder and CEO of Aobai Culture, representing gaming, music, and avatar fields respectively. They will discuss how RTE technology can further empower content and create more new application scenarios, under the theme of content-interaction fusion driving RTE scenario value innovation.
Looking toward a broader future, the demand for real-time interaction across industries is visibly and steadily increasing. What specific expectations do infrastructure providers, cloud vendors, consultancies, and industry players have for RTE? What different directions might RTE technology — representing the future — still explore?
To address these questions, Agora will specially invite Shao Dan, head and senior director of interactive entertainment at Kingsoft Cloud; Shen Qi, video collaboration industry marketing director at Intel's Network and Edge Group; Wei Tiantian, head of strategic ecosystem partnerships and venture capital at Shui On Land; and Zhuo Haodong, partner director at IBM, among guests from diverse fields. Together they will explore broader industry perspectives on RTE technology and share their vision for its future direction, under the theme "New Scenarios, New Demands: Facing New Directions for Real-Time Interaction."
As a foundational infrastructure for future digital life, RTE's track potential is no less than specialized technology sectors such as AI, big data, and blockchain. At the RTE 2022 ecosystem forum, Agora and its RTE ecosystem partners will undoubtedly shine a brighter light on this track.
