FreeS Fund 2019 North America Trip ② | We Hope to Walk Through the Fog and Discern the Patterns with You
Six VC Meetups — Come Say Hi

Innovation never sleeps. From the explosion of innovation in Silicon Valley in the 1950s, to the early stirrings of internet entrepreneurship in the 1970s, the mobile internet boom since 2008, and the current AI wave — countless great companies have emerged: Fairchild Semiconductor, IBM, Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Airbnb, Instagram, WeChat, Tesla, and many more.
The business models of these companies were rarely born from so-called lightning-strike moments of inspiration. All of them navigated different stages and cycles of industry development. What's interesting is that different tech industries have all passed through the same four stages: mechanization, automation, digitization, and intelligence.
Coming back to the present, we happen to be at a rare inflection point. China is not only the world's largest manufacturer but has also surpassed the United States to become the world's single largest retail market. Layer on the impact of the internet, and the digitization level of many industries has risen dramatically. This timing creates more brilliant possibilities for commercial innovation, and gives us a unique vantage point to observe the evolution of new business in China. When we're willing to put in the effort to study industry development patterns, supply-demand dynamics, and policy environments — to separate (macroeconomic "pessimistic") sentiment from facts — we gain more certainty and confidence about the future.
We want to share that confidence with you, if you're interested in entrepreneurship and investing. From November 16 to November 20, Feng Li (Uncle Feng), founding partner of FreeS Fund, will be at MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, and Stanford to share macro trends and cutting-edge VC thinking. We look forward to seeing you there.
