▎About the Guests
Dr. Haokian Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Bluepha, holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Integrated Life Sciences (Physics). He has published 20+ research papers in top-tier academic journals and won multiple championships and runner-up titles at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. He serves as a committee member of the Chinese Society of Biotechnology's Synthetic Biology Branch, chairman of the "CAS Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology Synthetic Biology Design and Manufacturing Joint Innovation Center," editorial board member of Synthetic Biology journal, and industry expert for China Merchants Bank Beijing Branch. In 2022, he was named an "X·36Under36" S-tier founder by 36Kr and selected for Fortune China's "40 Under 40 Business Elite" list.
Dr. Teng Li, co-founder and president of Bluepha, holds a B.S. in Life Sciences from Tsinghua University and a Ph.D. in Biomaterials and Synthetic Biology. He is a recipient of Tsinghua's highest graduate honor, the "Qi Hang Scholarship," an iGEM gold medalist, and gold medal team captain. He has been recognized as a "Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star," "Zhongguancun High-End Leading Talent," and "Huanghai Mingzhu Talent Plan" leading talent. He was selected for MIT Technology Review's "Innovators Under 35" and "Youth Innovation Award," Fortune's "40 Under 40 Business Elite," and 36Kr's "X·36Under36" 2022 S-tier founders.
The moderator is Rui Ma, partner at FreeS Fund, who focuses on materials and biotechnology investments, with particular interest in computation-driven approaches, synthetic biology, frontier technologies, and novel therapeutics. Representative investments include Bluepha, NeuroXess, XtalPi, METiS Pharmaceuticals, ChemX, Silicon Synapse, and Heart forever. Before joining FreeS Fund, Ma worked at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, where he was deeply involved in national policy and planning development. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and M.S. and B.S. degrees from Tsinghua University.
