峰瑞资本峰瑞资本·July 17, 2020

On the path of growth, we're bound to meet fellow travelers who share our passions.

In 2020, we've weathered a lot of "black swan" events together. COVID-19 and shifting international policies have all shaped the study, work, and daily lives of Chinese people in America. Just recently, international students in North America faced another wave of policy turbulence. Returning home to start a company or joining a domestic startup has become an increasingly appealing path for many.

At this critical juncture, we'd like to introduce ourselves — FreeS Fund.

One thing we firmly believe: when we're willing to put in the effort to understand things at their core, separating emotion from fact, we gain a little more optimism and confidence about the future.

Since the pandemic began, we've published more than ten in-depth analytical pieces on COVID-19, sharing our analysis of how the pandemic has affected macro trends and specific industries, hoping to help entrepreneurs sort through the opportunities that lie ahead.

Beyond written exchange, this time, we want to talk with you face to face.

as well as the current state of Chinese venture capital.

On the morning of August 1, Beijing time, we'll host "Frees Share" in Beijing — our first Open Day in five years. Whether you're preparing to join a Chinese startup or planning to return and build your own, if you're currently in China, you're welcome to stop by FreeS Fund. (If you're still overseas, you can also join via video conference.)

Over 60% of CEOs in the FreeS Fund portfolio have overseas study or work experience. Our colleagues are graduates of Harvard University, Stanford University, University of Cambridge, Carnegie Mellon University, UC Berkeley, and other institutions.

We want to hear your thoughts and questions about career choices and professional development, and we're happy to share our own experiences and lessons learned. We also hope the exchanges and collisions of ideas among attendees will help you find kindred spirits at the event.

Speakers for the day include Feng Shu (Li Feng, founding partner of FreeS Fund), who has spent ten years doing cross-border investment between China and the US, plus three FreeS Fund founders with overseas study and work backgrounds:

  • Lin Feng Yang, founder of Onion Academy, who earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from Harvard University;
  • Tao Tong, co-founder and CEO of Kolmostar, who received his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Harvard University;
  • Du Zhang, founder and CTO of Shunshun Liuxue (acquired by TAL Education Group), who completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis.
