Making single-cell analysis a routine part of clinical practice.

Recently, Singleron Biotechnologies (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., a company focused on high-throughput single-cell sequencing, announced that it has raised tens of millions of RMB in angel funding, led by Oriza Seed Capital with participation from FreeS Fund.

Founded in January 2018, Singleron focuses on the cutting edge of high-throughput single-cell multi-omics analysis — a field at the forefront of drug development, academic research, and genomics in the United States. Its core single-cell analysis technology platform comes from one of the company's co-founders, Professor Rong Fan of Yale University. This funding round will help Singleron secure a global exclusive patent license from Yale to commercialize Professor Fan's original high-throughput single-cell microfluidic sequencing technology, and to develop a range of clinical diagnostic and tumor immunology applications.

FreeS Fund places great importance on investing in technology-driven medical and pharmaceutical technologies and products, and we are honored to participate in this investment. Next-generation gene detection technologies, especially single-cell-related applications and technologies, have long been a key focus area for us. China's 13th Five-Year Plan also listed them as one of the top disruptive technologies to support. We deeply admire Singleron's outstanding capabilities in technology, application, and commercialization, and believe they will become an important force in advancing China's single-cell field.

Recently, Singleron Biotechnologies (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. (Singleron Biotechnologies Co., Ltd.), a company focused on high-throughput single-cell sequencing, announced that it has raised tens of millions of RMB in angel funding, led by Oriza Seed Capital with participation from FreeS Fund.

Founded in January 2018, Singleron focuses on the cutting edge of high-throughput single-cell multi-omics analysis in drug development, academic research, and genomics in the United States, developing a range of molecular diagnostic products and automated equipment better suited for clinical applications.

Singleron's core single-cell analysis technology platform comes from one of the company's co-founders, Professor Rong Fan of Yale University. Professor Fan is dedicated to microfluidics-based single-cell multi-omics analysis technologies. His invented IsoCode technology was selected by the American science magazine The Scientist as the #1 Top 10 Medical Technology Invention of 2017 globally, and also received the 2017 Fierce Innovation Award in the United States. This funding round will help Singleron secure a global exclusive patent license from Yale to commercialize Professor Fan's original high-throughput single-cell microfluidic sequencing technology, and to develop a range of clinical diagnostic and tumor immunology applications.

The company's other co-founder is Dr. Nan Fang, former Global R&D Vice President at QIAGEN (German headquarters), who has over ten years of product development and management experience. She led her team to successfully develop more than 20 research and clinical testing products at QIAGEN, including single-cell sequencing products, and previously served as the head of QIAGEN's GeneReader sequencing instrument development project. Dr. Fang will leverage her extensive experience in R&D, management, M&A, and integration across Germany, the United States, and China in the life sciences and molecular diagnostics technology fields to rapidly commercialize Dr. Fan's innovative single-cell technology.

Dr. Nan Fang, Singleron's co-founder and CEO, stated: "The latest advances in single-cell analysis technology enable researchers to obtain unprecedented high-resolution deep insights into the mechanisms and characteristics of human diseases. The high-throughput single-cell sequencing technology developed by Professor Rong Fan of Yale University provides an original method that is high-throughput, stable, simple, and cost-effective — very well suited for clinical applications. We are delighted to secure the global exclusive license for this innovative technology from Yale. We are also very proud to receive support from leading venture capital funds Oriza Seed Capital and FreeS Fund as our partners at this stage, to accelerate the commercialization of this technology."

Dr. Rong Fan, Singleron's co-founder and technical advisor, stated: "Although single-cell analysis has proven to be a powerful tool in research, it has not yet become routine in clinical practice. Singleron's technology is dedicated to solving existing technical bottlenecks to make routine clinical application of single-cell analysis possible."
