Thinking Through Turning Points and Opportunities Amid the Pandemic from a Global Citizen's Perspective | FreeS Fund North America Online Sharing

峰瑞资本峰瑞资本·March 30, 2020

Welcome to sign up, VC friends from across the US and anyone following the China-US venture capital scene.

Rarely has there been a moment more suited than today to grasp the meaning of "we all share the same world, for better or worse." More than 200 countries and regions are now grappling with the domino effects of COVID-19. Nearly a third of the world's population is living under lockdown, with widespread work stoppages and production halts — all in hopes of hitting the stop button on this pandemic as soon as possible.

"Social distancing" can isolate the virus, but it won't isolate our concern for one another. Though our planned "FreeS Fund Spring North America Trip" was shelved due to the outbreak, we still want to stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends across the ocean.

No one is an island. Against the backdrop of globalization, shifts in politics, economics, culture, and the environment will ultimately reach every "global citizen." Facing this pandemic, we hope to adopt a broader, more holistic perspective to explore what it really means for all of us:

  • What challenges and opportunities has the pandemic brought to tech and consumer sectors in China and the US?
  • How did the current state of international financial markets come about? How will it affect capital markets in the US and China?
  • What impact will the pandemic have on "globalization"?
  • Why is now a good time to return to China and start a business?

From 9:00 to 10:30 AM Beijing Time on April 3, Li Feng — founding partner of FreeS Fund and known affectionately as "Uncle Feng" — will share his observations and reflections on the pandemic, along with his read on current venture capital trends, in the first installment of the "From Coast to Coast: CEO Webinar Series — China-US Venture Capital 2020" lecture series.

Solidarity Across the Ocean

The greater the crisis and uncertainty, the more important it is to keep thinking and acting.

During this extraordinary period as the pandemic spreads globally, the "China-US Venture Capital 2020" lecture series is co-hosted by CEO (Chinese Entrepreneurs Organization) on the West Coast and MIT CEO (MIT Chinese Entrepreneurs Organization) on the East Coast. It aims to invite seasoned venture capital professionals to share insights on navigating these challenges with VC peers across the US.

This session with Uncle Feng is also supported by 11 Chinese venture capital organizations and institutions on both US coasts. To them, our sincere thanks.

We welcome VC peers across the US and anyone interested in China-US venture capital to register and join us.

Those who keep thinking and acting amid crisis and uncertainty will never lack companions. If you have entrepreneurial ideas or plans, feel free to send your business plan to bp@freesvc.com, or reach out to Feng Xiaorui (WeChat ID: freesfund).

Finally, we'd like to share some of our recent reflections on the pandemic — we hope they offer some inspiration.
