BlueRun Ventures Leads RMB 50 Million Series A in Ophthalmic AR/VR Medtech Firm RuiVision | BlueRun Ventures

Building a Myopia Prevention Tool That Transforms Reading Habits for Children and Adolescents

Recently, Shanghai Ruishi Health Technology announced the completion of a 50 million yuan Series A funding round, led by BlueRun Ventures with co-investment from Sinopharm-CICC. The proceeds will primarily fund continued R&D on myopia prevention and control products, scaling up manufacturing capacity, and expanding the company's team of specialist researchers.

Cao Wei, Partner at BlueRun Ventures, said: "In recent years, adolescent myopia has become a social issue that cannot be ignored. We are pleased to see that the Ruishi team has innovatively applied AR optical technology to clinical optometry and released its original Far-Vision Light Screen product. Within six months of launch, the product has received widespread praise from professional ophthalmologists and parents of myopic children. Looking ahead, we expect the company to continue deepening its work in myopia prevention and treatment around its core technology platform, launching more outstanding products and bringing hope to more families dealing with myopia."

Founded in 2017, Ruishi Technology has focused on myopia prevention and control for children and adolescents since its inception. Under the leadership of Chief Scientist Professor Wang Ningli (CPPCC National Committee member, academician of the International Academy of Ophthalmology, former director of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association), co-inventor of the Far-Vision Light Screen, and Chief Optical Advisor Professor Wang Yongtian (CPPCC National Committee member, distinguished professor at Beijing Institute of Technology's School of Optoelectronics, director of the Beijing Mixed Reality and Advanced Display Research Center), Ruishi Technology launched its core product: the myopia prevention and control Far-Vision Light Screen. Through deep collaboration with Beijing Tongren Hospital and the National Engineering Research Center for Ophthalmic Devices, the company combines top-tier medical expertise with cutting-edge optical technology to create a powerful tool for myopia prevention that transforms how children and adolescents read.

The Ruishi Far-Vision Light Screen employs three core technologies — simulated distant-viewing high-definition imaging, digital spectral architecture, and digital defocus & blur stimulation — integrated with patented AR freeform surface technology. Through optical principles and technological empowerment, it allows children to view magnified, distance-projected high-definition images and customized digital learning and entertainment content on screen. This fundamentally avoids transient myopia caused by prolonged near-work, while reducing visual fatigue and spastic myopia, preventing the accumulation of transient myopia and thereby lowering the risk of myopia onset and progression. The Far-Vision Light Screen fills a gap in the market for protecting children's hyperopic reserve and controlling myopia development in young people, representing an innovative high-tech medical device for myopia prevention and control.

The Ruishi Far-Vision Light Screen has earned numerous industry honors, including selection for the Top Ten Advances in Chinese Ophthalmology 2021, the 2021 Ophthalmology Science and Technology Progress Award from the China Association of Medical Equipment, and Class II medical device registration from the national authorities. The product is already widely available domestically and has received unanimous praise from parents and children alike.

Mr. Yao Jun, founder of Ruishi Technology, stated: "The addition of BlueRun Ventures and Sinopharm-CICC brings not only capital but also access to industrial resources in healthcare and innovative medical devices. This will help Ruishi attract more professional talent, increase R&D investment, and accelerate product commercialization. As national attention to childhood myopia prevention grows, and with the trends of high prevalence and early diagnosis becoming increasingly apparent, myopia prevention and control for children and adolescents will become an essential service for every family."

Mr. Yao Jun also noted: "Going forward, Ruishi Health will continue to leverage its leading optical capabilities and comprehensive myopia prevention solutions, continuously optimizing its product matrix led by the 'Far-Vision Light Screen,' and further improving its integrated 'hardware + software + services' solution. Working with all sectors of society, we aim to connect homes with hospitals, online with offline, and prevention with intervention, driving the standardization, accessibility, precision, digitization, and intelligentization of myopia prevention work, and building a high-quality, high-standard, high-caliber service system for myopia control."

Ruishi Technology will continue advancing the professional development of the Far-Vision Light Screen, accelerating its promotion and application in optometry, bringing revolutionary change to myopia prevention and visual environments for children and adolescents in China. Through continuous product iteration and R&D, the company will provide more innovative solutions and services for young people, supporting the implementation of policies such as China's Comprehensive Plan for Preventing and Controlling Myopia in Children and Adolescents and the 14th Five-Year National Eye Health Plan (2021-2025), and contributing to the realization of Healthy China.
