Beyond Efficiency: What Deserves to Be Created? | Booming Club Round Two Recruitment

Beyond work, into wonder & fun.

When efficiency becomes the end goal, people become tools instead of purpose.

This isn't just literary prophecy — it's the operating logic at the foundation of today's AI models. AI's essence is optimizing for the mean, hunting for best practice, converging every input toward a single optimal output. Technically unassailable. But if "efficiency above all" becomes the only narrative of our era, what kind of social structure do we ultimately get? An ant colony? A beehive? Or humanity itself?

So for round two of Booming Club, we want to talk about "AI and the non-efficient."

We're not here to deny efficiency's value. We're simply curious: beyond that precisely calculated mean, what are the founders and creators who refuse efficiency as their sole coordinate actually building?

We've noticed a group of people following a more private urge to create — using AI to build virtual worlds, redefine social connection, invent new ways of living, to satisfy those deeper human needs: to be chosen, to be remembered, to be understood. Their starting point was never a market gap. They simply believed that "making people feel the value of being alive" was worth going all-in on.

For round two, we're holding seats for the Outliers who refuse to be averaged out by "efficiency above all."

We're inviting you if:

  • You're building AI-native, non-efficient products: lifestyle, social, interactive narrative, games, emotional exploration, or any direction that doesn't put efficiency first but you believe deserves to exist.
  • You're going all-in on the unknown: a new kind of joy, an experience that doesn't yet exist, a new form of connection.
  • You're a super creator: you have top-tier user intuition. You don't need to understand engineering, but you deeply grasp AI and are using it to turn your extreme aesthetic into reality.

Let's discuss:

  • Beyond efficiency, what else is worth creating? What hidden human needs are being awakened — or manufactured — by AI?
  • When AI can perfectly simulate everything, what about human "presence" remains irreplaceable?
  • When novelty fades, what new species can truly hold human attention and soul?
  • When the ultimate goal of mainstream technology is "replacing humans," is that really the destination we should be racing toward?

We're curious about your story, curious about what drives you. Bring what you're working on. Five minutes to introduce yourself. The rest, let it happen freely inside Booming Club.
