Machenike Signs Joint Cooperation Memorandum with Saudi Aramco to Advance Global Hydrogen Energy and Intelligent Transportation Solutions | BlueRun Ventures Headlines

Working together to drive the energy transition and achieve net-zero emissions goals.

On October 27, Machenike unveiled its next-generation hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck at the Tecshift Summit, where it also signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Saudi Aramco.

Prosperity7 Ventures (P7), a fund under Aramco Ventures, has invested in Machenike across four consecutive rounds, making Machenike the only autonomous driving company in its China portfolio.

BlueRun Ventures led Machenike's Pre-A round and also participated in its Series A.

Both parties expect to leverage advanced technology and innovative solutions to jointly advance the energy transition, achieve zero-carbon emission goals, and build an ecosystem that supports the shift to clean energy. This collaboration goes beyond shaping the future of transportation — it paves the way for sustainable energy on a global scale toward zero-carbon targets.

Aysar Tayeb, Managing Director of Prosperity7, was invited to attend a symposium on September 11 hosted by Premier Li Qiang in Riyadh with representatives from Saudi Arabia's business community. The signing of this strategic cooperation memorandum fully reflects the spirit of that meeting. Premier Li expressed his hope that Saudi enterprises would continue to deepen their presence in the Chinese market, invest more confidently in China, expand and strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and trade, while strengthening collaboration in emerging and future industries like the digital economy and green economy. He also encouraged them to serve as bridges for enhancing China-Saudi friendship and mutual understanding, pushing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to new heights.

The agreement was implemented through Saudi Aramco's transportation and logistics division and its new energy hydrogen division working directly with Machenike on business cooperation. The tripartite collaboration is structured in three phases — short-term, medium-term, and long-term:

  • In the short term, the transportation and logistics division will deploy Machenike's hydrogen-powered intelligent heavy-duty trucks within the Saudi Aramco fleet, testing hydrogen trucks equipped with Machenike's autonomous driving system on the Riyadh-Dammam route. Simultaneously, an intelligent autonomous shuttle service will be launched at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, rolling out solutions in both freight and passenger transport.
  • In the medium term, Machenike will serve as a strategic partner to Saudi Aramco's hydrogen division, with Aramco supplying low-carbon hydrogen for Machenike's global heavy-duty truck fleet. The two sides will also introduce intelligent hydrogen-powered buses to improve safety and efficiency in clean transportation, and fully deploy hydrogen-powered intelligent trucks across Saudi Aramco's operations.
  • In the long term, the partners will jointly design smart city concepts using the latest intelligent transportation technologies, and locally assemble and manufacture hydrogen-powered vehicles in Saudi Arabia. These initiatives will drive hydrogen technology development, improve urban efficiency and sustainability, and solidify Aramco and Machenike's leadership in Saudi Arabia's energy and technology transformation.

Machenike's notable achievements along its development path would not have been possible without the collective efforts of multiple stakeholders, among which local governments in Zhejiang Province, Anhui Province, and Shanghai have played a crucial role. For a long time, these regions have steadfastly implemented the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by the General Secretary, actively promoted relevant policies, provided strong support and fertile ground for Machenike's growth, and injected robust momentum into the company's development.
