Accelerating Large-Scale, Multi-Scenario Deployment of Intelligent Soft Robotics

Recently, Wanxun Technology completed a series of nearly RMB 200 million in Series A, A+, and A2 funding rounds. The Series A was led by Haochen Capital, with BlueRun Ventures and Shunwei Capital making full follow-on investments; the A+ round was led by Beijing Robotics Industry Investment Fund, with BlueRun Ventures making a full follow-on investment; and the A2 round was led by Yuantai Fund, with Dehu Capital participating. This provides fresh momentum for the company to continue accelerating the widespread adoption of robotics and embodied intelligence across more global markets, industries, and scenarios through soft robotics technology.

Currently, robotics and AI technology are experiencing explosive growth. Beyond traditional applications in industrial manufacturing and specialized services, an increasing number of industries and scenarios urgently need large-scale deployment of intelligent robots to build more competitive productivity and comprehensive experiences — meaning robots must fundamentally break through two bottlenecks: "adaptability" and "cost." They need to move beyond standardized, non-randomized operations in conventional industrial manufacturing settings, and be able to handle the complex, diverse, and constantly changing environments and demands of daily life, while also delivering the cost advantages needed for mass adoption.
Addressing these two core demands of high adaptability and low cost, "soft" robotics technology — viewed as the next-generation core underlying technology for robots — offers distinct advantages over the "rigid" robotics approaches currently in widespread use, which rely on motorized joints, metal materials, complex sensors, and precision machining processes. By utilizing soft materials and pneumatic/hydraulic actuation, soft robots are lightweight, flexible, safe for human interaction, and easily deformable, making them better suited for complex, variable scenarios involving extensive interaction with people and environments. They represent an ideal choice for普及应用 robots across more industries and scenarios, particularly service applications. As a frontier field in robotics science, only a handful of companies globally have achieved commercial application of soft robotics technology. Although currently concentrated mainly in industrial gripping and medical rehabilitation, its unique advantages have gained full industry recognition.
Focusing on the strong demand for robotic empowerment across more industries and scenarios, and drawing on over a decade of deep accumulation and innovation in core soft robotics technology, Wanxun Technology has pioneered Pliabot®, a general-purpose soft robotics technology with strong commercialization capabilities, as its breakthrough path through broad technological application. This technology uses soft-material biomimetic muscles and neural intelligence to replicate the flexible characteristics of human muscle, achieving far greater adaptability, load-to-weight ratio, environmental resistance, safe interaction, and cost advantages than rigid robots. Combined with platform-based technology development, it possesses strong cross-industry, cross-scenario empowerment attributes, providing a disruptive new technical route for widespread robotic adoption.

Relying on a "dual-helix" drive model of "flexible muscles + neural intelligence," Pliabot®'s full-stack innovation in both robot bodies and intelligent systems also provides a new technical paradigm for the commercialization and large-scale deployment of embodied intelligence. Highly analogous to the human nervous system, Pliabot® is based on underlying neural intelligence distributed throughout flexible muscles, connecting and supporting cerebellar-cerebral AI and cloud intelligence to form a complete intelligent system. It features intrinsic self-perception and precise control without complex force sensors or vision systems, multimodal embodied intelligence algorithms, and powerful scenario data capabilities. Combined with newly biomimetic architectures of flexible muscles, joints, arms, and systems, it can create safe, dexterous, lightweight, resilient, and affordable robot products and solutions for diverse application scenarios across different industries.
In terms of embodied forms, leveraging flexible modules, intelligent hardware, and AI algorithms with disruptive performance and cost advantages, Pliabot® technology can function as individual muscles or joints, single or dual arms, and can also be combined with various end-effector tools and mobile platforms such as lift mechanisms, production lines, wearable devices, UAVs, and even robotic dogs and humanoid robots. While accommodating the long-term evolution of future robot forms, it more flexibly meets the practical and large-scale application needs of different fields, industries, and scenarios including high-altitude operations, new energy intelligent driving, industrial manufacturing, commercial services, and home services.
For example, Wanxun's pioneering "Orion" series of aerial flexible robots creatively integrates flexible arms and joints with DJI drones, natively adapting to their light-payload and heavy-payload multi-series models. It has developed four product lines: precision operations, flexible spraying, active release, and contact-based inspection, improving quality, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency for industries such as high-altitude cleaning and energy operations and maintenance, while also boosting the vigorous development of the low-altitude economy. Wanxun's original "Kylin" flexible automatic charging robot, with its unique technical route and disruptive performance and cost advantages, is highly suitable for large-scale commercial deployment. Its commercialization progress continues to accelerate, providing new momentum for upgrades in intelligent driving experiences and the new energy vehicle industry.

Currently, with the continuous development and application of Pliabot® technology, the company has established and is continuously expanding its global leading advantages in core technology and business domains.
On core technology, the company continues to focus on R&D iteration of key technologies, building a competitive advantage of "long technology stack, short supply chain" for Pliabot®. Through integrated underlying long-chain innovation spanning biomimetic principles, new polymer materials, mechanical structural design, hardware and embedded algorithms, robot control and multimodal information fusion, and distributed embodied intelligence, it has constructed multi-level technical barriers based on interdisciplinary fusion and cross-pollination built up over years of technical accumulation. To date, it has accumulated hundreds of intellectual property applications, with over 200 granted, and has led the formulation of multiple technical standards in the soft robotics field, effectively ensuring the scarcity of its core technologies.
On business advancement, staying true to its original mission of "using disruptive innovation in core robotics technology to help humanity stay away from dangerous and complex operations, and improve productivity and work-life experience," the company achieved the world's earliest mass production and shipment of flexible robot core components. Various soft robots based on Pliabot® technology have been applied to more than ten different industries and rich operating scenarios including high-altitude cleaning, intelligent driving charging, energy operations and maintenance, emergency rescue, and environmental protection. Products have been sold to over 100 countries, regions, and cities across Europe, America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, establishing extensive domestic and overseas channels and customer networks.
Recently, Wanxun will also exhibit at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, United States, focusing on showcasing Pliabot® technology characteristics and major business line products, particularly the aerial precision operations series that has attracted significant attention from overseas customers. This will further strengthen its global brand image, drive continued rapid expansion of overseas business, and explore innovative application scenarios for soft robotics technology together with more domestic and international partners.

The Wanxun team stated that with continued recognition and support from new and existing investors, Wanxun Technology has consolidated its industry leadership position in its niche segment based on clear core technology advantages, making continuous progress in product deployment, scenario exploration, technical barrier construction, and global business expansion. In the next phase, the company will continue to focus on the driving role of general-purpose soft robotics technology in the widespread adoption of robotics and embodied intelligence, concentrating on further global deployment and expansion of existing key business lines, particularly aerial precision operations and automatic charging, while continuously advancing underlying core technology iteration and exploration of new forms and scenarios.
