The proceeds will accelerate the R&D of its pipeline of innovative ophthalmic and regenerative medicine products — including artificial biomimetic corneas, implantable contact lenses, artificial corneal endothelium grafts, and artificial dermis — as well as clinical trials, international regulatory registration, and commercial expansion.

Founded in 2020, Xiwei Biotech specializes in developing innovative ophthalmic implantable medical devices and regenerative medicine devices based on novel biomodified materials. The company's core founding team brings over 15 years of R&D and management experience in the international and domestic pharmaceutical sectors. It operates approximately 5,600 square meters of R&D and production facilities, including three static ISO Class 7 cleanrooms (with local static ISO Class 5 zones), and has established a comprehensive quality management system compliant with ISO 13485, FDA QSR 820, and China's Good Manufacturing Practice for Medical Devices.

In China, corneal disease is the third leading cause of blindness, affecting approximately 4 million people with corneal blindness — nearly half of whom could regain sight through corneal transplantation. The patient pool grows by 70,000 to 100,000 annually. Yet fewer than 10,000 corneal transplants are performed each year, and existing solutions carry drawbacks including aqueous humor leakage, glaucoma, and dissolution or detachment caused by rejection. Clinical demand for corneal transplantation and corneal endothelium products thus remains dramatically unmet, representing a massive and non-discretionary market. Meanwhile, China has roughly 600 million people with myopia, and femtosecond refractive surgeries currently number about 2.2 million per year.
