Qiming Venture Partners Portfolio Company WeRide Partners with Chery Automobile, Jin Jiang Taxi to Launch Driverless L4 Robotaxi Ride-Hailing Service in Shanghai
The approval for Shanghai demonstration operations marks the entry of WeRide-powered Chery Automobile Robotaxi into Shanghai. WeRide has officially opened its 10th global city, fully demonstrating the company's robust autonomous driving technology capabilities and efficient global deployment capacity.

During the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), Shanghai officially launched a new batch of intelligent connected vehicle demonstration operations. Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) partnered with Chery Automobile and Jinjiang Taxi to obtain approval for regulation-based, safety-driver-free public road autonomous ride-hailing demonstration services in Shanghai's Pudong New Area. This also marks the entry of WeRide-enabled Chery Robotaxi into Shanghai — WeRide's 10th global city — fully demonstrating the company's solid autonomous driving technical capabilities and efficient global deployment capacity.
At the conference's "Intelligent Mobility Without Boundaries · AI Drives the Future" L4 intelligent connected vehicle experience event, the three parties brought the only frontline mass-produced L4 autonomous vehicle shuttle service on site. The service covers major transportation hubs and cultural landmarks including Shanghai World Expo Center, Jinqiao, Huamu, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and Shanghai Disney Resort. Shanghai residents, tourists, and conference attendees can book rides anytime through the "Jinjiang Zhixing" WeChat mini program.

The tripartite cooperation of WeRide, Chery Automobile, and Jinjiang Taxi launches Robotaxi shuttle service at WAIC
WeRide is a pioneer and leader in the Robotaxi field. Chery Automobile, as one of China's earliest homegrown brands to surpass one million units in annual sales, has consistently adhered to technological innovation and market expansion. Its premium new energy brand EXEED continues to intensify its "intelligentization, connectivity, and electrification" transformation strategy, making continuous breakthroughs in electrified platform architecture and other domains. This has laid a solid foundation for the two parties' collaboration in developing a new generation of mass-produced Robotaxi.
Integrating their respective strengths, the two parties first unveiled the new generation frontline mass-produced Robotaxi model — CER at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, based on WeRide's WeRide One autonomous driving general-purpose technology platform and EXEED's Exlantix ET vehicle architecture platform.

The model exhibited by both parties at WAIC is precisely this frontline mass-produced Robotaxi CER. CER is equipped with WeRide's self-developed HPC high-performance computing platform and Sensor Suit 5.6 sensor suite, featuring over 20 sensors including high-performance low-cost LiDAR, high-definition high-dynamic-range cameras, and RTK high-precision integrated inertial navigation modules. It incorporates five redundant safety designs (steering redundancy, braking redundancy, parking redundancy, communication redundancy, and power supply redundancy) for comprehensive safety assurance. Combined with the Exlantix ET model's spacious interior and ultra-long range, it can fully satisfy long-distance, all-scenario, high-frequency unmanned mobility needs across full scenarios.

Since its founding in 2017, WeRide has consistently led the industry in Robotaxi technology R&D and commercial deployment, becoming the first to achieve Robotaxi operations or testing in 9 cities across 3 countries. Its footprint now covers multiple global cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Ordos, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh, and Zurich, with over 2,000 days of safe operations.

WeRide Robotaxi in cities around the world
Going forward, WeRide will continue to collaborate with partners from across the globe to accelerate Robotaxi technology optimization, commercial deployment, and service upgrades, helping cities worldwide advance toward a new era of intelligent transportation.
