Qiming Venture Partners | Pusilihua Founder Professor Song Yangzhou Named to TIME100 Health 2026 List of World's Most Influential People in Health
In the official selection rationale released by TIME, the focus was on the extraordinary contributions that Professor Songyang Zhou and his team at Pusillabio have made in the field of tuberculosis detection.

Recently, TIME magazine released its 2026 TIME100 Health list, and Professor Yangzhou Song, founder of Pushenglihua (普世利华), was named to the ranking.
TIME100 Health is an annual definitive list of global health influence curated by TIME. Each year, it selects 100 key leaders worldwide who are advancing the life sciences and health through exceptional vision, revealing to the world the transformative forces capable of reshaping humanity's future. The list emphasizes practical impact, tracking change across scientific breakthroughs, medical innovation, public health systems, and policy advocacy.
In the official citation released by TIME, the spotlight fell on Professor Song's extraordinary contributions to tuberculosis detection, leading the Pushenglihua team.

TIME's official assessment: Rapid, precise diagnosis to tackle the global challenge of TB prevention and treatment
Tuberculosis claims more than one million lives each year. Early-stage patients often miss out on timely medical intervention due to complex, time-consuming diagnostic procedures and dependence on heavy equipment. To break this impasse, Professor Song and the Pushenglihua team developed a rapid TB detection solution — requiring only a tongue swab sample and a portable handheld device called MiniDock, results are available within 30 minutes.

Yangzhou Song
Professor Yangzhou Song is the founder of Pushenglihua. He has long been engaged in molecular biology and related interdisciplinary fields, with extensive experience in core enzyme screening, directed evolution, and foundational technology innovation. He has published more than 200 papers in Cell, Nature, Science, and other international journals, with over 25,000 cumulative citations as of 2025 and an h-index of 72. In 2022, he was named to Elsevier's "World's Top Scientists" ranking. Professor Song earned his Ph.D. from Tufts University and conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University and MIT. He served as a tenured professor and Lodwick T. Bolin Chair at Baylor College of Medicine, director of the Center for Molecular Drug Discovery and High-Throughput Experimentation at Baylor, and dean of the School of Life Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University. He was selected for the first cohort of the national high-level talent recruitment program and Guangdong Province's first cohort of leading talent, and served as chief scientist for a National 973 Program project.
Professor Song noted that the solution dramatically reduces costs while achieving accuracy comparable to traditional laboratory methods. In 2025, the testing protocol was officially approved by The Global Fund for inclusion in its procurement list, giving it the capacity for broad global deployment and the potential to save more lives.
Professor Song's inclusion in TIME100 Health is not only recognition of his academic foundation, but also validation of the principle that "research must respond to real-world needs." In the field of TB detection, he and the Pushenglihua team achieved a technological leap from complex and time-consuming to rapid and precise through breakthroughs at the foundational level. This ability to deliver high-performance diagnostics to resource-scarce regions is eliminating the diagnostic divide created by geography and economics — a direct expression of health equity. By breaking down geographic barriers and cost bottlenecks, quality medical resources are no longer confined to laboratory walls, but are truly reaching underserved areas and granting everyone equal access to diagnosis.
Looking ahead, Pushenglihua will continue to deepen its commitment to more accessible and affordable health solutions, using the power of science to narrow health disparities and allow more people to share in the benefits of technological progress.
