"What is an 'AI Research Fellow'?"

What is an "AI Research Fellow"?

Crossing is looking for a group of like-minded people to become AI Research Fellows. Together with the Fellows, we will:

  • Explore 🌍: Research and analyze the latest AI products from around the world;
  • Write ✍️: Produce weekly product introductions that are interesting, useful, and resonant;
  • Connect 🤝: Interact frequently online and offline, and meet kindred spirits.

"You are the average of your five closest friends." To ensure the quality of Fellows and the depth of interaction:

  • The AI Research Fellow program lasts one quarter;
  • The first cohort will be limited to no more than 5 Fellows.

What will "AI Research Fellow" produce?

Every great discovery begins with a curious mind.

We could fill several pages with our vision for AI Research Fellows, but in Season One, we're choosing to start with the simplest approach: First, we will select the most outstanding AI products for research and writing, to be published on the Crossing WeChat account and in our community.

We've combined Sequoia Capital and Y Combinator's writing framework recommendations for startup pitch decks to form our article framework and writing guidelines.

We will bring Fellows into our network and introduce you to new friends worth knowing.

Fellows will also have the opportunity to use Crossing's online influence and our hundreds of square meters of independent space — the AI Hacker House — to host events of their own interest. Whether it's seminars, product launches, AI hackathons, or industry gatherings with friends, we will provide you with relevant support.

Fellowship among Fellows

You are the average of your 5 best friends.

We will invite all Fellows to gather in Shanghai one weekend for a Kickoff Workshop. If a Fellow is not in Shanghai, we will separately discuss travel and accommodation arrangements.

We will also establish specific interaction mechanisms to encourage and ensure that support and sharing among Fellows can continue to happen in the long term.

Prominent byline and broad exposure

Leverage us to build awareness.

Each Fellow will receive prominent byline credit on every article they write. Your research will be directly presented to Crossing's rapidly growing community of tens of thousands of AI industry members. Our member base covers nearly all well-known AI companies in China, including top AI entrepreneurs, researchers, founders, developers, and investors. Through our platform, you will have the opportunity to build your personal research brand influence among China's highest-quality AI readership, expanding your professional impact and visibility.

Autonomous topic selection and deep research opportunities

Fellows can propose topics, companies, or people they want to cover based on their interests. Leveraging Crossing's resource network in the China and US AI industries, you will gain opportunities to connect with AI companies and key people of interest, and conduct in-depth research on your chosen topics — greatly expanding your research horizons and industry resource network.

At the end of the program season, we will provide each Fellow with a celebration bonus. We encourage you to use this bonus to buy yourself a gift or invite friends to a meal, celebrating your growth and achievements in this program, and remembering this rewarding journey.

How to Apply

Requirements:

  1. Time commitment: Guarantee at least 3 hours of participation per week over three months.
  2. Writing experience: Complete one product introduction article per month.
  3. English reading ability: Able to read and understand English materials.
  4. Broad perspective and understanding of AI: While we will learn together, we hope you already have a relatively broad perspective and a certain level of understanding of the AI industry.
