Luma AI v1.5 Released
Luma AI has officially announced the release of its latest version, "Luma v1.5," which delivers significant advances and improvements in video generation technology.
The v1.5 update enhances video generation quality, producing higher-resolution output for users, while also reducing generation time and improving efficiency. Through refined algorithms, Luma v1.5 makes motion in videos more fluid and realistic, with physics-compliant movement that strengthens the viewing experience. The version also features substantially improved text comprehension, more accurately capturing semantic meaning to generate video frames that closely align with the source text.
Tesla Recruiting "Human Teachers" for Optimus
Tesla is actively recruiting workers to train its humanoid robot, Optimus. These "Data Collection Operator" positions require employees to mimic robot motions while wearing motion-capture suits, paying up to $48 per hour. The job demands walking more than seven hours daily, carrying equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, and wearing VR headsets for extended periods.
Though videos have shown Optimus performing various tasks, NVIDIA senior research scientist Animesh Garg estimates the robot may need millions of hours of data before it's fully ready to work in Tesla factories. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has promised to produce "genuinely useful" robots next year, though he himself admits this is largely speculation.
Procreate Issues Anti-AI Manifesto
Digital illustration software giant Procreate recently issued a statement publicly rejecting generative AI technology on its platform, seeking to protect and defend human artists' creativity.
Procreate made clear it will not use AI to assist user creation, arguing that this undermines the human element in creative work. The company contends that generative AI technology is built on "theft" and could lead creators toward a "barren future." As AI technology continues to evolve, tech companies driving innovation must consider how to balance traditional creative values, finding equilibrium between technological progress and artistic authenticity.

"FuXi" AI Foundation Model Surpasses Traditional Models
The FuXi-S2S (FuXi Sub-seasonal Climate Prediction Foundation Model)[1], jointly developed by the Shanghai Academy of AI for Science, Fudan University, and the China Meteorological Administration, has for the first time surpassed the prediction accuracy of the traditional numerical forecast benchmark — the S2S model from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
The FuXi AI foundation model can complete 42-day global daily average forecasts in approximately seven seconds, covering five upper-atmospheric variables across 13 pressure levels and 11 surface variables. It incorporates ocean-atmosphere interaction processes, particularly the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO), and is applied across multiple industries including extreme climate prediction, transportation, insurance, new energy, futures trading, and urban planning.

China's First UI Foundation Model — Motiff
At the IXDC2024 International Experience Design Conference, the AI-era design tool Motiff unveiled its self-developed UI multimodal foundation model, the "Motiff Foundation Model."
The Motiff Foundation Model is the world's first foundation model developed by a UI design tool company. With exceptional UI comprehension capabilities and the ability to execute open-ended instructions, it outperformed GPT-4o and Apple's Ferret UI across multiple UI capability benchmarks. The Motiff Foundation Model achieves "design expert" level, coming closest to human understanding and articulation of UI interfaces. It reduces error rates below 15%, with some metrics as low as 7% — far below the industry average.

Kunlun Tech Launches AI Short Drama Platform SkyReels
Kunlun Tech has released SkyReels, the world's first AI short drama platform integrating video and 3D foundation models, offering creators an end-to-end automated solution from script to finished production.
SkyReels incorporates Kunlun Tech's self-developed script foundation model SkyScript, storyboard foundation model StoryboardGen, 3D generation foundation model Sky3DGen, and WorldEngine — the industry's first platform to deeply integrate an AI 3D engine with video foundation models. SkyReels can generate complete scripts, storyboards, character dialogue, and BGM with one click via AI. It supports customizable character appearances, voices, and storyboards, and automatically converts content into 1080P 60fps high-definition video with single-generation lengths of up to 180 seconds.

AMD to Acquire ZT Systems for $4.9 Billion
AMD announced it will acquire server manufacturer ZT Systems in a 75% cash, 25% stock transaction valued at $4.9 billion, adding to its data center technology portfolio. ZT Systems will be integrated into AMD's Data Center Solutions Business Group.
AMD's gross margin over the past 12 months was 51.2%, and the company aims to maintain this high margin through the ZT Systems acquisition. With ZT Systems' trailing 12-month revenue exceeding $10 billion, the deal is expected to further strengthen AMD's data center business. AMD CEO Lisa Su emphasized the importance of AI, stating that the ZT Systems acquisition will accelerate AMD AI infrastructure deployment.
Major Merger in South Korea's AI Chip Industry
South Korean AI chipmakers Sapeon Korea and Rebellions have signed a formal merger agreement, expected to create an AI chip industry unicorn valued at over 1 trillion won (approximately $743.8 million). The combined entity will be more competitive in global markets, with potential to challenge international giants like NVIDIA and AMD.
Sapeon Korea, a subsidiary of SK Telecom, developed the country's first AI chip for data centers, the X330 series, using 7nm process technology. Rebellions, a fabless AI chip startup founded in 2020, developed ATOM, an AI system-on-chip supporting large language models. The merged company will be named Rebellions, with Rebellions CEO Park Sung-hyun leading the new entity. The original Rebellions team will assume management responsibilities, while SK Telecom continues its support as a strategic investor.

NVIDIA AI Technology Powers Black Myth: Wukong
Black Myth: Wukong reached 390 million yuan in pre-sales within one month, with 1.2 million copies sold, setting a new record for domestic Chinese game pre-sales. It topped Steam's global bestseller list and set new records for download bandwidth. After four years of anticipation, Black Myth: Wukong made its blockbuster debut.
NVIDIA's full ray tracing and DLSS 3 technology significantly enhanced graphics quality and performance[2], with full ray tracing delivering immersive gaming experiences while ensuring 60+ FPS gameplay. AI-powered DLSS 3 technology boosts performance through AI neural rendering, providing high frame rates and exceptional visual experiences. 4th-generation Tensor Cores and optical flow accelerators support DLSS Frame Generation, integrated with Reflex low-latency technology.
