ATRenew (万物新生) is China's largest secondhand consumer-electronics trading and services platform, operating under the stock ticker RERE on the New York Stock Exchange since its June 2021 IPO . The company traces its roots to 2011, when founder Chen Xuefeng started Aihuishou (爱回收) as what he describes as the first phone-recycling company globally; over the following decade it pioneered offline stores (2013), automated inspection technology (2016), overseas expansion (2017), a B2B open platform (2018), and the acquisition of Paipai to close a C2B+B2B+B2C full-chain loop (2019) . 5Y Capital, an early backer, first invested when the team was just two or three people with little more than an idea, and later provided a critical $1 million bridge loan in 2013 . By the time of listing, Chen framed the business as a "green technology, circular economy" play, with environmental problem-solving at its core . Post-IPO, the group has continued to build out its urban green-industry chain, including a 2023 strategic cooperation with SK Chemicals on household waste recycling and sorting in Guangdong province , and has integrated ESG into its governance with a three-tier ESG management committee .
