The Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund is one of eight sector-specific government guidance funds under Beijing's state asset manager Beijing Guanguan (北京国管), with a combined initial scale of 100 billion RMB across all eight funds . It was established in 2024 as part of Beijing's push to channel state capital into strategic industries, with the artificial intelligence fund specifically placed under the management of Qiming Venture Partners (启明创投) .

The fund has moved quickly: by late 2024, the eight funds collectively had completed investment decisions on 167 projects totaling roughly 17 billion RMB, with actual disbursements of about 12.7 billion RMB . The Beijing AI fund's first disclosed investment was in Zhipu AI (智谱AI), making it a key state backer of one of China's leading large model companies . It has since invested in over 30 AI companies, including notable video-generation firms Aishi Technology (爱诗科技) and Shengshu Technology (生数科技) . Its involvement in Deep Principle's funding round alongside other state-linked investors signaled official recognition of AI for Science as "national strategic research infrastructure" .
