BioMap

BioMap (百图生科) is an AI-driven drug discovery company founded in 2020 by Baidu founder Robin Li and BV Baidu Venture CEO Liu Wei, with BlueRun Ventures among its backers . The company builds on a life-science foundation model called xTrimo—trained to over 100 billion parameters—and operates a wet-dry closed-loop discovery system, BioMap OS, that aims to restructure the pharmaceutical R&D pipeline .

Its commercial model centers on MaaS (Model as a Service). In October 2023, BioMap signed a landmark deal with Sanofi to co-develop AI models for biologic drug discovery, with potential total payments exceeding $1 billion . The company has also pushed into Hong Kong: in June 2024 it partnered with Hong Kong Investment Management Corporation and opened its first international innovation center, BioMap InnoHub, alongside ecosystem ties to HKU, HKUST, and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation . Its AIGP platform for protein design and optimization had signed over 200 users as of mid-2024, spanning global pharma, CDMOs, and synthetic biology players .
