Calterah

Calterah (加特兰微电子) is a Shanghai-based automotive-grade millimeter-wave radar chip company founded in 2014, and a long-standing FreeS Fund portfolio company. It was the world's first to mass-produce a CMOS-process 77GHz automotive radar transceiver chip — unveiled at IC China 2017 and billed as the first such locally developed chip in Asia-Pacific — cutting costs by over 50% versus traditional silicon-germanium processes and breaking into the car OEM front-fit market. Under founder Dr. Chen Jiashu, it has since built what FreeS describes as the industry's broadest mmWave radar chip portfolio, spanning 77/79GHz and 60GHz RF front-ends, SoCs, and AiP (antenna-in-package) SoCs used in corner, front, imaging, in-cabin, and door radars, plus the world's first IEEE 802.15.4ab-compliant UWB SoC series for applications like digital car keys and child presence detection. As of April 2026, Calterah had closed a Series E round exceeding 1 billion yuan, backed by national-level industry funds, local government funds, and industrial capital, with Huaxing Securities as sole financial advisor.
