Eric Xu

Eric Xu (徐威) is a co-founder and CTO of Liuxing Technology (留形科技), a 3D reconstruction startup he established in 2022 with fellow HKU PhD Qin Youming (秦佑铭) . He was the first author of FAST-LIO, an open-source 3D mapping project that gained international traction with 2.4k GitHub stars . The team met at HKU's MaRS Lab, then a converted steam boiler room in the university's Wong Chik Wan Building where they tested drone algorithms . Liuxing's product achieved profitability within three months of launch . Xu was named to a ZhenFund "stars" list in early 2026 alongside Qin .
