Longwood Valley (长木谷) is a Chinese orthopedic AI company founded by Yiling Zhang, a Harvard Medical School postdoctoral fellow with a doctorate in orthopedic medicine, who also serves as its CEO . The company builds AI products aimed at orthopedic surgeons' actual clinical pain points — as Zhang put it, the hardest part of AI in healthcare is product implementation, and the company's medicine-plus-engineering team is what lets it find and solve real problems for doctors, with an eye toward empowering primary-care physicians nationwide . FreeS Fund was its angel investor and kept adding through the tens-of-millions-RMB Pre-A round in 2019 ; by late 2021 it had raised a 540 million RMB Series B co-led by CICC Capital's Qide fund, IDG Capital, and CDH VGC, with existing shareholders Yuansheng Venture Capital and Zhongfazhan Qihang topping up .
