Luka

Luka is an AI picture-book reading robot for children, created by Gu Jiawei through his company Ling Technology (物灵科技) after he incubated it as part of a broader hardware investment strategy that included backing the companion robot Jibo . It became one of China's first children's picture-book robots and an early consumer smart hardware product to go global, selling nearly 10 million units across 18 countries . Gu has described Luka as defining a new multimodal robot category with visual camera interaction, which later competitors in the early-education device market followed . The product's hundreds of billions of picture-book reading and interaction records now serve as training data for Gu's current venture, Ling Universe (灵宇宙), and its LingOS operating system .
