Maihai Environmental Protection

Maihai Environmental Protection (迈海环保) is a water-treatment technology company originating from Seattle, as FreeS Fund described in its 2019 portfolio materials . The company applies dynamic nano-crystalline filtration — using engineered nanomaterials in a novel reactor design with IoT-driven intelligent controls — to water treatment and reuse, positioned as a membrane-replacement separation technology .

The company was registered in China in March 2018 and placed second in the 2018 Asian Development Bank–Tsinghua Star Clean Tech Challenge out of 130+ projects . By 2021 it had achieved ton-scale mass production of its nanomaterials and put into operation an automated core flexible filter-tube production line . Cai Zhenxiao, identified as a Maihai founder, told JIEI Innovation Lab that the company's micro-granular adsorption filtration (uGAF) technology targets deep phosphorus removal in sewage, with product commercialization as the immediate priority .
