MatrixOrigin (矩阵起源) is a data-intelligence startup that builds MatrixOne, a unified database engine designed to fuse multiple data-processing workloads . It was founded by a team including post-90s PhDs from HKU's MaRS Lab with backgrounds in robotics and spatial intelligence , though the company's focus shifted to data infrastructure rather than hardware.

The company raised an eight-figure USD angel round in June 2021 led by 5Y Capital, with participation from K2VC, Yuanlai Capital and WeLight Ventures . It followed with an angel-plus round in October 2021 of tens of millions of USD led by Eastern Bell Capital, with 5Y Capital, K2VC and Cornerstone Capital joining . By 2024 it had closed a $10 million pre-A round and launched commercial versions — MatrixOne Enterprise and MatrixOne Cloud — targeting industrial, energy and internet sectors .
