PAM2L Biotechnologies (柏垠生物) is a synthetic biomaterial R&D company founded in March 2021 by Chao Zhong (钟超), a researcher at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, alongside his university classmate Cui Junfeng . The company is built on a dual-engine approach combining synthetic biology and machine learning (BT-IT) to develop bio-based materials and products , with core pipelines focused on adhesive proteins, bacterial cellulose, and mucopolysaccharides .

The company raised nearly $5 million in an angel round led exclusively by 5Y Capital in December 2021 , followed by a tens-of-millions RMB angel+ round led by Tiantu Capital with Cornerstone Capital participating in May 2022 . In January 2023, it closed a pre-A round exceeding 100 million RMB, co-led by Voyong Fund, Yunqi Capital, and GRC, with Cornerstone Capital and Yael Capital following . The proceeds have been directed toward R&D platform upgrades, pilot-scale facility construction, and capacity expansion .
