Shuma Finance (什马金融) is a rural-focused fintech company founded in January 2015 by serial entrepreneur Rui Ning, who serves as CEO . It began by offering consumer finance for electric vehicles and motorcycles to rural populations, then built a customized risk-control model and credit system spanning pre-loan, mid-loan, and post-loan management across customers, dealers, and sales staff . By early 2018 the company had reached nearly 10 billion RMB in cumulative transaction volume, with a network covering 31 provinces, over 2,600 counties, and tens of thousands of townships, partnering with leading brands including Yadea, Xinri, Jinpeng, and Chaowei Battery .

FreeS Fund (峰瑞资本) led Shuma Finance's Series A in 2015 and continued to follow on in its 2016 Series B and B+ rounds . The company later raised a 300 million RMB Series C in 2018 led by Tongbanjie, Huachuang Capital, and Hina Group, with Yixin New Financial Industry Investment Fund also participating . By 2019, Shuma Finance's operations had expanded to include Shuma Chuxing (什马出行), a new-energy vehicle S2B2C retail and transaction platform targeting tier-3 through tier-6 markets, which raised over 10 million USD in pre-Series A and 20 million USD in Series A funding that year .
