Tapdata is a real-time data service platform company (深圳钛铂数据有限公司) founded by Jianfa Tang, who previously worked at MongoDB and saw enterprises struggling to unify data across increasingly fragmented database systems . The company's core product provides a logical, virtualized data access layer that connects heterogeneous databases in real time, enabling enterprises to build unified data platforms or augment existing data warehouses with real-time capabilities .

As of mid-2021, Tapdata had raised tens of millions of USD across two consecutive rounds: a Pre-A led exclusively by 5Y Capital and a Pre-A+ co-led by XVC and Delian Capital, following an earlier angel round from Variable Capital and Blue Sea Capital . The company reported over RMB 10 million in 2020 revenue with break-even status, and had secured reference customers including China Mobile, FAW Group, Chow Sang Sang, TCL, China Southern Power Grid, and Fubon Bank . Tapdata also launched a free cloud version, Tapdata Cloud, to promote adoption of its real-time DaaS architecture . Per 5Y Capital partner Liu Kai, the firm viewed Tapdata as essentially pioneering China's real-time DaaS category .
