Tiamat is a Chinese AI image generation technology provider founded in 2021, built around its self-developed MorpherVLM — billed as the first domestic near-10-billion-parameter cross-modal generation model based on a concept-fusion paradigm . The company was co-founded by Qinggan (CEO) and Eric, positioning itself as an early entrant in China's AIGC space before the 2022-2023 wave of Stable Diffusion and Midjourney made AI art mainstream .

Tiamat pursued a "community-as-a-service" model similar to Midjourney, launching a beta web product and building user feedback into model refinement through RLHF and fine-grained prompt alignment techniques . By early 2023 it had begun commercializing across fast-moving consumer goods, advertising, fashion, and design sectors, with an emphasis on controllability — the ability to direct outputs in ways that match human intent and business use cases .

The company raised two rounds in quick succession in 2023: a nearly $10 million Series A led by DCM and Oasis Capital in February, followed by a multi-million-dollar Series A+ led by Linear Capital with DCM and Oasis Capital re-upping in May .
