Weichong Semiconductor

Weichong Semiconductor (微崇半导体) is a Shanghai-based semiconductor metrology and inspection equipment company founded in 2021 by a team of overseas-returned semiconductor technologists working alongside domestic scientists and engineers . The company develops wafer inspection technologies including second-harmonic and thermal-wave detection systems, designed for non-contact, non-destructive, inline rapid internal defect detection across R&D, ramp-up, and mass production stages .

In February 2025, Weichong closed a tens-of-millions RMB Series A+ round co-led by JinYu MaoWu (金雨茂物), Optics Valley Semiconductor Industrial Investment (光谷半导体产投), and Cenova Capital (赛纳资本), with proceeds directed to R&D, market expansion, and team building . Yunqi Capital, which invested at an early stage, participated in this round as an existing backer . The company had already shipped a new equipment model by end-2024, and reports that three device types have entered leading domestic customers with strong reception . Founder, chairman and CEO Huang Chongji (黄崇基) has described the funding as validation of the team's progress in a challenging market environment for both semiconductor metrology and venture financing .
