Xiangyu Ye

Xiangyu Ye is the founder and CEO of Nowcoder (牛客), a campus-recruitment platform he started in September 2014 after seven years as an engineer and product manager. A 2007 Zhejiang University graduate, he began at Google as a software engineer, briefly attempted a gaming startup, then worked at a game company, Renren, and Alipay before committing to entrepreneurship . Nowcoder evolved from a consumer-facing coding-practice community into a B2B service spanning online written tests, video interviews, and—since 2023—AI-powered interviews . The company raised a $50 million Series B in early 2023, with Ye stating the funds would go toward scaling and service improvements . In a 2024 5Y Capital podcast, Ye described two crunch points: a near-death funding drought around 2016, and post-2021 layoffs and pivots after overexpansion during the internet boom—salvaged, in his telling, by betting on generative AI . His own career philosophy, as he put it, is that "there is no right or wrong choice, only fit" .
