Xing Yao

Xing Yao is the founder of XVERSE (元象科技), a company he started in 2021 after leaving Tencent, where he had served as corporate vice president, founded Tencent AI Lab and the Robotics X Lab, and oversaw several technical departments in the TEG engineering group . The venture was originally pitched as building an operating system and content provider for the "full-real internet" — 5Y Capital described him and his team as "world-class hardcore technologists with deep commercial insight" — and by 2023 it had swung into open-source large models, with Yao noting the team shipped 7B and 13B models in three months and was among the first to release a 65B model to the community . Per a Gaorong piece from August 2025, the company now frames itself around AI + 3D for a more realistic digital world .
