Xinyi Information Technology

Xinyi Information Technology (芯翼信息科技) is an IoT chip company founded in 2017 by Jianhong Xiao, who returned to China that year to start it after earning a PhD from Texas A&M and serving as a senior principal scientist at Broadcom . It focuses on SoC chips for IoT smart terminals — spanning communications, computing, sensing, and power management — and its 2018 XY1100 was billed as the world's first NB-IoT chip with an on-chip CMOS power amplifier, later deployed in smart metering, smoke detectors, asset tracking, and shared e-bike management with module makers like China Mobile IoT and Quectel among its customers . On the funding side, FreeS Fund backed it at the angel round — per a FreeS piece, Li Feng's team committed after a single meeting with Xiao and told him "we're investing in you as a person" through some rough early moments — then followed on through a Series A of tens of millions of RMB in late 2018 and a nearly 500 million RMB Series B in 2021, led by CMB International and CICC Jiazi with existing shareholders FreeS, CD Capital, and others continuing to add .
