Yu Wang

Yu Wang is a tenured professor and department chair of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, whose research spans hardware, chips, and foundational software . In 2016 he co-founded AI chip company DeePhi Tech with his students Yao Song and Shan Yi; it was acquired by Xilinx for $300 million in 2018, making it the first Chinese AI-chip startup of that wave to be bought . In May 2023 he founded Infinigence AI (无问芯穹), a Qiming Venture Partners portfolio company focused on AI infrastructure, where he has argued that tokens have become "one of the most core production factors of the intelligent era" and that lowering costs is key to commercializing large models . His recent public talks have centered on edge intelligence and hardware-software co-design for AI infrastructure .
