Yunqi-SJTU AI Angel Fund

The Yunqi-SJTU AI Angel Fund (also referred to as "交大-云启 AI 天使基金") is an early-stage investment vehicle launched in April 2025 by Yunqi Capital in partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University's AI College and SJTU Engineering Research Institute . It targets pre-seed and seed-stage AI startups, with explicit focus areas including large-model industry applications, embodied intelligence, and AI chips—though its mandate is not strictly limited to these sectors or to SJTU alumni founders .

The fund represents a deepening institutional relationship between Yunqi and SJTU. Yunqi founding partner Mao Chengyu, an SJTU alumnus, has supported the university across multiple initiatives including the "Yuanqi Development Fund" for basic research and an earlier 2024 donation phase; the AI Angel Fund adds a systematic investment layer to this collaboration . In practice, the fund has already backed several deals: it participated in Baiyao Technology's multimillion-yuan financing for its AI virtual cell platform , joined Taiyi Liangsheng's 300 million yuan Pre-A round in neutral-atom quantum computing, and led the Pre-A round of Kongshanci, a brain-computer interaction neuromodulation startup, before re-upping in its Series A .
