Neutral-atom quantum computing company Taiyi Liangsheng has raised 300 million yuan in a Pre-A funding round, co-led by Gaorong Ventures.
The first domestic company focused on building complete ytterbium-atom neutral-atom quantum computers.
Neutral-atom quantum computing startup Taiyi Liangsheng (hereinafter referred to as "Taiyi Liangsheng") has recently completed a 300 million yuan Pre-A funding round, led by Gaorong Ventures and IDG Capital, with participation from multiple well-known institutions and industry partners.


China's First Company Dedicated to
Ytterbium Neutral-Atom Quantum Computers
Founded in January 2026 and headquartered in Shanghai's Xuhui district, Taiyi Liangsheng is China's first company dedicated to building complete ytterbium neutral-atom quantum computers.
The ytterbium approach offers several inherent physical advantages, including erasable errors, faster qubit gates, native high-precision multi-qubit gates, and multi-photon interconnectivity through telecom-band wavelengths. In March 2026, Google Quantum AI officially made neutral atoms a core research priority, with Adam Kaufman's neutral-atom hardware team also choosing the ytterbium route. Google explicitly stated that superconducting qubits scale more easily in the "time dimension," while neutral atoms scale more easily in the "space dimension."

Exploring Quantum Computing's Industrial Applications
Since its angel round, the company has rapidly built out its core R&D and commercial operations teams. It now has nearly 50 full-time employees covering the full technology stack, including cold atoms, optics, control systems, and error correction. Core team members come from leading international research institutions including MIT, JILA, NIST, CQT (Centre for Quantum Technologies Singapore), and Microsoft, as well as top domestic universities and research institutes, with interdisciplinary backgrounds spanning quantum computing, atomic and molecular optical physics, optical engineering, cryogenic and vacuum systems, control systems, algorithms, and software. Key leadership positions across multiple core divisions have been filled.
On the technical front, the company has established joint laboratories and collaborative research projects with leading research groups at Peking University, Fudan University, and East China Normal University in quantum computing and quantum precision measurement. Its full-time R&D team has completed the assembly of two optical tweezer systems and, in collaboration with Peking University, designed a vacuum chamber capable of continuous loading. By year-end, the company aims to complete full system assembly and demonstrate logical qubits through error correction.

Taiyi Liangsheng is targeting future applications in AI training and scientific computing, chemical simulation, materials R&D, drug discovery, financial modeling, and information security. The company is already working with leading industry players in materials, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and finance to validate quantum algorithms and explore the potential value of quantum computing for specific industrial problems.
