Centered on the data middle platform, helping enterprises build a one-stop data intelligence service platform.

Value Simplex, a leading enterprise data middle-platform provider in China, recently announced the completion of its Series B funding round, raising tens of millions of US dollars. The round was led by Gaorong Ventures, with follow-on investment from existing shareholder Harvest Investment. In September 2018, Value Simplex secured its Series A funding from Xiaomi, Harvest Investment, and Qingquanshi Capital. Centered on its data middle-platform, Value Simplex is committed to helping enterprises build one-stop data intelligence service platforms, effectively accelerating their digital transformation and enabling rapid business value realization.

"Entropy" is a measure of disorder in thermodynamic systems. "Value Simplex" (熵简) symbolizes the use of intelligent methods to simplify the complexity of enterprise digitalization and data assetization, achieving data-driven decision-making while reducing costs and improving efficiency.

In the data era, building data middle-platforms and driving business decisions through data has become a strategic consensus for intelligent enterprises. However, data collection and planning, platform sharing and collaboration, and data service application and operation all demand substantial technical capabilities and industry expertise. Value Simplex's self-developed data middle-platform engine addresses enterprise pain points through an end-to-end data middle-platform system, providing an intelligent core for "data-driven business." The company currently serves leading enterprises across finance, consumer goods, technology, and consulting, including Harvest Fund, Dongfanghong Asset Management, Xiaomi, and BCG.

Addressing common challenges in enterprise business management and data governance, Value Simplex has built a high-concurrency, high-stability, and scalable data intelligence platform based on the business logic of "data collection — data fusion — data computation — business decision." Following data flow, the platform is structured into three layers: the data layer, middle-platform layer, and application layer.

Taking the financial industry as an example, the upstream data layer is supported by the distributed data collection engine Baelish System and the big data analytics engine Alex System, enabling multi-source, high-throughput, industrial-grade information collection. It also provides an aggregated search engine that unifies alternative data with traditional data, helping enterprises rapidly access massive volumes of multi-source heterogeneous data. Value Simplex's alternative database covers datasets across e-commerce, gaming, film, recruitment, bidding, real estate, automotive, chemicals, agriculture, OTA, and other vertical industries.

The midstream middle-platform layer is powered by the data middle-platform engine Value Simplex Brain, enabling enterprises to fuse multi-source heterogeneous data with localized storage and structured encapsulation. The system features drag-and-drop workflow development, online editing and debugging, real-time data governance monitoring, and data lineage DAG visualization, significantly improving data governance efficiency.

The downstream application layer, supported by the knowledge graph engine Aminda System and NLP technology, bridges the "last mile" between data and end users. Value Simplex has accumulated extensive capabilities in data middle-platform and business application development for the financial industry, creating applications including knowledge graphs, intelligent investment research, intelligent search, intelligent customer service, intelligent marketing, and intelligent risk control. These effectively help financial institutions accelerate their digital transformation and rapidly realize business value. Taking "knowledge graphs" as an example, financial analysts can use this application to create "dynamically updatable mind maps," helping them effectively review their work, build enterprise-level knowledge repositories, and support intelligent investment decisions — earning positive feedback from institutional analysts.

In terms of commercial deployment, Value Simplex currently serves multiple leading domestic asset management institutions in the financial sector, including Harvest Fund, Dongfanghong Asset Management, Yinhua Fund, and Frespring Investment. The company recently won the bid for Chen Yuan Asset Management's intelligent investment research integrated management platform project, building a comprehensive investment research data middle-platform for the rising star asset manager. The company also serves overseas hedge funds including Point72 and 3D Investment. In March 2019, Value Simplex was awarded "Best Alpha Vendor" by buyer institutions at the "Alternative Data: Access & Alpha" summit hosted by Eagle Alpha, a global leader in alternative data, in Singapore. Additional clients include consumer and technology companies such as Xiaomi and Yujiahui, as well as top consulting firms like BCG.

Value Simplex has assembled a technology-driven, professionally diverse, and young high-performing team. Its five partners are graduates of top institutions including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the University of Michigan, with deep combined expertise in finance and technology. On the finance side, partners have held positions at Harvest Fund, CITIC Securities, and other prominent financial institutions with frontline investment research experience. On the technology side, partners have worked at BlackRock and Bloomberg, published 15 papers in top international journals and conferences, and hold five patents. The core team also brings together senior engineers from Baidu, Huawei, ByteDance, and Meituan-Dianping, as well as industry analysts with primary and secondary market research experience, enabling deep customer understanding and strong product development capabilities.

Value Simplex CEO Binjie Fei stated: "Value Simplex will maintain technological idealism while remaining grounded in commercial execution. We insist on technology-driven development, but avoid the 'hammer looking for nails' mindset. Instead, based on solid technical capabilities and deep industry understanding, we provide enterprises with practical data service toolkits that genuinely address their needs."

Value Simplex also hopes to leverage its data intelligence technology and experience to support academic research, serve social governance, and contribute social value. The company has established deep cooperation with Tsinghua University's Institute of FinTech, and as one collaborative outcome, the two parties recently jointly released the "2019 Recruitment Big Data Employment Market Index Report," which has attracted widespread attention.

A Gaorong Ventures project lead commented that Value Simplex's data middle-platform services open entirely new analytical dimensions for clients, representing an essential means for enterprise customers to build competitive advantages. The company rapidly delivers project implementation with strong comprehension, analytical capabilities, and agile execution. Gaorong believes Value Simplex's grounded yet vibrant team has the potential to become a leading enterprise in the data middle-platform sector.

Value Simplex revealed that the company will pursue two strategic goals going forward. First, it will strategically focus on the fintech sector, continuously refining products and optimizing services through partnerships with leading financial institutions, creating more success stories, achieving deep coverage of top financial institutions, and establishing a leading position in China's fintech landscape. Second, building on its data middle-platform products and underlying data engines, it will expand application scenarios, achieving a leap from one to many use cases for its data middle-platform engine and creating greater social value.
